10 Foods to Fight Candida
10 Foods to Fight Candida

Do you suffer from mood swings, seasonal allergies, digestive issues, or frequent yeast infections? If so, you may have Candida overgrowth.
Candida is one of the scientific names for yeast, which is a form of fungus. A very small amount naturally resides in your mouth and intestines to aid digestion, but your medications, diet, and environment can all change your normal balance of Candida. When its overproduced, it breaks down the wall of the intestines and enters directly into the bloodstream, where it releases toxic byproducts that can cause a leaky gut. Symptoms of Candida overgrowth can range from digestive issues to depression.
How Can I Treat it?
When it comes to treating Candida overgrowth, there are few key points to remember.
- Starve the yeast
- Overpower the yeast
- Build up good bacteria
First, you want starve the yeast, which feeds off of sugar, refined carbohydrates, and yeast-containing foods. For this reason, you will want to remove all sugar, refined carbohydrates, alcohol, dried fruit, fruit juices, fermented foods*, vinegars**, and mushrooms. You will want to limit legumes and grains to 1 cup a day.
Once the Candida is contained, we want to overpower it. You can do this with anti-fungal prescriptions, like Diflucan or Nystatin or anti-fungal supplements like candisol, caprylic acid, anti-fungal foods, or a combination of the three. Treating with Diflucan or Nystatin is certainly the fastest option, but not the only way to combat a Candida overgrowth. If you dont want to take an anti-fungal medication, consider eating more of the foods that naturally fight Candida listed below.
Lastly, we want to reinforce our bodys defenses against future infections. You can do this by taking a high quality probiotic supplement.
10 Foods to Fight Candida
Coconut oil
Coconut oil naturally contains a fatty acid, called caprylic acid. This anti-fungal interferes with Candida growth and replication by poking holes in the walls of the yeast cells, causing them to die off.
Garlic
Garlic contains allicin, a sulphur-containing compound with natural antifungal properties, specific to Candida. When eaten raw, this little food is one of the best antifungals around.
**Apple Cider Vinegar
Apple cider vinegar is the one type of vinegar allowed on a Candida diet. Research on apple cider vinegar is limited, but it appears to contain enzymes that help break down Candida.
Cruciferous Vegetables
Cruciferous vegetables, such as broccoli, Brussels sprouts, arugula, cabbage, and radishes, contain isothiocyanates, the sulphur- and nitrogen-containing compounds that attack Candida.
Ginger
Ginger contains gingerols and shogaols, the anti-inflammatory and anti-fungal components of the ginger root. While ginger is not the most powerful antifungal of the group, it does provide significant liver support while your body is detoxifying the Candida overgrowth.
Olive Oil
Olive, flax, avocado, and primrose oils contain polyphenols, which are antioxidants that can help your body fight Candida.
Cloves
Cloves naturally contain eugenol, a powerful essential oil and extremely effective antifungal when taken internally. Clove oil can also be effective as a topical aid for fungal infections of the toe and fingernails.
Cinnamon
Cinnamon is an anti-inflammatory spice with added anti-fungal properties. Similar to caprylic acid, it appears to damage yeast cells, causing them to denature and eventually die off. Cinnamon appears to be beneficial in the treatment of Candida, H. pylori, and even head lice, but it should not be used while pregnant or in the presence of a stomach or intestinal ulcer.
Wild Salmon
Wild Salmon is an excellent source of omega-3 fatty acids, which are also known to fight fungal infections.
Lemon Juice
The essential oil of lemons contains mild anti-fungal properties. Lemons main role in the diet is to help detoxify your liver as it tries to fight off the Candida.
*Fermented foods are considered food for the good bacteria in your gut, however it can feed Candida as well. Therefore, I recommend eradicating the Candida overgrowth first and then adding in fermented foods to help build-up your army of beneficial bacteria.
If you would like to find out for sure if you have candida overgrowth, consider seeing a functional medicine doctor, who is trained in detecting and treating candida.

Week 10
Week 10
Week 10:
- Baby Prisbrey is the size of a prune! So much has been developed and we are almost done creating new organs and body parts!
- We started off our weekend by going camping for Easter at the Valley of Fire. We love going down there with my moms whole family for Easter and Halloween. We are excited and sad to say this will be our only trip to the Valley of Fire this year because our sweet Baby Prisbrey is due the same weekend as our Halloween camp out! We left Friday afternoon and came home Sunday morning. It was warm but so perfect! I love sleeping in our little tent with Kason! Life is so fun!
- My handsome brother and his cute girlfriend got engaged! He had her ring as one of the egg prizes and so she went to claim her prizes and my grandma handed her the ring box and she of course wasnt thinking anything about it and so it was funny to see josh hiding behind her getting on and off one knee as she kept moving on to the next prize ha ha ha it ended up working perfectly and she of course said yes! Her ring is beautiful!
- Sunday after camping we came back home and unpacked and showered and headed over to the Prisbrey home to celebrate Easter with them. Kiley and her family were down and Kade and Sydney came over too! We had a yummy dinner and then Kelton and Kelli put on a huge egg hunt at the park by their house! It was so fun! The kids loved seeing all the eggs! Grayson would stop and eat the candy from each one before even caring about finding another egg ha ha ha! We are so grateful for the fun and memories we shared!
- I was only sick a few times this week which makes me excited that maybe this nasty spell is almost over?! I was pretty uncomfortable and sick while camping but I think it was mostly because it was hot and different circumstances.
- I had Friday and Monday off of school for Easter Break! Mmm I sure love these breaks from school but this was our VERY last one! Eek! I hope I survive all of April and May without a break! :)
- I had my first craving meltdown! I love cheddar fries! Yes, like the ones from elementary school snack shack! I used to see them occasionally at Walmart and lately I havent! One day I made Kason go to every Walmart within a 30 mile radius and still no luck! Ha ha ha ha poor fella :) He is a good man! Have I said that before?! :) Anyway, so I ordered some off Amazon. Unfortunately you cant just order one bag... So I ordered like 8... Ah! Dont judge me!! I wish I was brave enough to post the picture of my ridiculous self hugging all right bags as they arrived! My sweet husband Im sure will use it as blackmail one day!
- We went to our second ultrasound on Monday! That was so exciting! We sat our babys sweet nose and hands and toes and it just kept kicking and waving and moving around! It was so breathtaking and perfect! I couldnt even fathom how special it was that a perfect little baby was moving around at that minute in my belly! The heartbeat was 179 (hmm.. Maybe a girl because its so fast?). They said we could come back on April 29th and they will be able to tell us the gender! That is so soon! We are so excited!
- April Fools was on Monday so after our appointment I text my mom, dad, and nat as said its a BOY! Nat was like noooooo! And my mom was so excited and they said are you sure?! And I said yes 97% sure! So they asked a few more questions and I said the Dr. was also 97% sure that was an April Fools joke! Hahahaha they were NOT happy with me! :) They told me it would be a boy now because I teased them!
- Kason has had awful allergies this week! I feel so helpless and bad for him! He is so tough though and never complains! I have never had allergies and so I dont quite feel his pain but it looks miserable! I sure hope they leave him alone soon! :)
- Favorite moment of the week: Wednesday we went out to dinner and ice cream! We went to Pancho and Leftys. Ive only been there since being pregnant, so Im sure I will really love it tons more when Im not! It was fun to get out of the house and be out with Kason. I sure do love that boy so much!
- Our 1 Year Anniversary is in less than two weeks! Where has this year gone! How wonderful and special it has been to us each and every single day!

Thirty years of research reveals 10 of the best food phytonutrients to ingest to protect against and even treat the root cause of most cancers.
A new medical model is fast emerging in line with ancient wisdom: one that aims to strike to the root cause of disease and resolve it permanently, and which some call "functional medicine." In cancer treatment, this highly rational approach involves targeting the cancer stem cells (CSCs) at the root of cancer malignancy. Because we now know that CSCs are resistant to chemotherapy and radiation treatment, and may even increase in number and invasveness when exposed to these outdated therapies, it is no longer ethical to continue with the conventional oncologists "standard of care." Clearly, unless a cancer treatment is capable of selectively killing and/or inducing suicide programs (apoptosis) within cancer cells without harming non-cancerous cells, it is not going to produce a cure.
In light of this, we are excited to report on a new review published in the International Journal of Molecular Sciences titled, "Phytochemicals as Innovative Therapeutic Tools against Cancer Stem Cells," which evaluated the evidence for what natural compounds within various foods and spices make for the most compelling treatments for targeting CSCs.
According to the review of 30 years worth of literature on the topic, the following 10 natural substances have been demonstrated to be the most effective chemopreventive dietary agents against CSCs:
- Epigallocatechin-3-gallate (EGCG): A green tea extract
- Curcumin: The primary polyphenol in turmeric root
- Resveratrol: A phytochemical found in grapes, peanuts, Japanese knotweed
- Lycopene: A red carotenoid found in watermelon, pink grapefruit, and tomatoes
- Pomegranate extracts
- Luteolin: A flavonoid found in peppers and various green vegetables
- Genistein: A phytochemical found in soy, red clover, and coffee
- Piperine: A phytochemicals found in black pepper
- ?-carotene: An orange carotenoid found in various vegetables
- Sulforaphane: A sulfurous phytochemical found in Cruciferous vegetables
The researchers described the discovery that phytochemicals can selectively target CSCs as "a milestone in the improvement of cancer treatment because the synthetic anticancer drugs that are currently used are often highly toxic for healthy organs and weakens the patients immune system."
They also pointed out that the phytochemicals or extracts identified above, due to their "low levels of toxicity for normal cells," can be used in combination with other phytochemicals, "yielding powerful synergistic effects."
They identified several key areas of focus for the future:
- Finding a way to combine these compounds into "very active cocktails of phytochemicals" to address the multiple areas of treatment resistance often found in CSCs.
- Compare the effects of natural phytochemicals with synthetic drugs, the latter of which they anticipate will be found to be less efficient.
- Further research should be performed on CSCs to better understand the signaling pathways that govern their self-renewal and survival.
The authors concluded, "[T]he use of phytochemicals may be a true therapeutic strategy for eradicating cancer through the elimination of CSCs."
If you have followed GreenMedInfo.com, you know cover the complex terrain of modern cancer treatment and its failures in various exposes on cancer overdiagnosis, the misunderstood nature of cancer, the reality of chemo and radiation resistance, the sorcerer-like power that doctors have over the health destiny of their patients, and the corrupt pharmaceutically-driven medical system that sacrifices ethics for profit. It is clear that while this is a harrowing task and topic, often fraught with darkness, the discovery that natural substances are superior to highly toxic chemotherapy and radiation in selectively killing the root cause of cancer is extremely promising and should help to usher in a new era of cancer prevention and treatment that looks at our dietary decisions as the most important factor in our health destiny.

Top 10 Most Expensive Pet Health Conditions
Top 10 Most Expensive Pet Health Conditions
Did you know...
... that though there are fewer incidences, intervertebral disc disease (IVD) costs a whopping $3,282 per claim, making it one of the most expensive diseases to treat.Pets can change your life with their constant companionship and loving nature. As their owners it is our responsibility to provide them with the best that they can have, which include good food, a nice place to live and not to forget, lots of love. Along with these basic necessities, it is also important to provide the dog appropriate medical care when required. Despite the best care provided for the dog or cat, it may inevitably require medical care at some point in its life. This applies to both indoor and outdoor cats and dogs. The question now arises as to how much are you willing to spend on veterinary bills.
Most owners believe that health conditions cannot cost more than $1000, but this may not be true, especially in a country where healthcare costs are constantly skyrocketing. According to the claims submitted to Veterinary Pet Insurance (VPI), which is the oldest and largest provider of pet health insurance in the nation, in 2010 alone, there were around 14,000 claims with an average cost of more than $1000. The most common and expensive health condition is a torn knee ligament or cartilage with more than 6000 claims being made with the average cost of more than $1500. Here is a detailed list of the top 10 expensive pet health conditions along with the number of claims and average cost per claim.
Most Expensive Health Conditions in Dogs and Cats
Intervertebral Disc Disease
Number of Claims: 879
Average Cost per Claim: $3,282
The Condition
One of the most common neurological problems especially in dog breeds like dachshund, Pekingese and beagle, intervertebral disc disease occurs when the intervertebral disk (the shock absorbing, stabilizing structure between the spinal bones) herniates, resulting in compression and injury to the spinal cord. Common signs include paralysis, lameness and extreme pain.
Treatment
One of the most expensive diseases to treat, pets with intervertebral disc disease often respond favorably to decompression surgery. Unfortunately, recurrence is pretty common with around 20% of dogs with the surgery suffering from the symptoms within three years. In majority of cases, the dogs require lifelong care.
Stomach Torsion/Bloat
Number of Claims: 372
Average Cost per Claim: $2,509
The Condition
Stomach torsion also known as bloat in dogs is a condition that is caused due to excessive gas or fluid in the stomach. The gas can lead to the stomach extension or rotation. This condition usually affects large, broad chested dogs like Labrador Retrievers, Great Danes, German Shepherds and St. Bernards. Usually, these dogs tend to have more of dry nibble rather than wet food, and have a history of digestive disorders. Excessive drooling, attempts to vomit and defecate, abdominal distention and pain are some of the common symptoms of this condition.
Treatment
This condition requires immediate medical attention, as surgery may be needed to relieve the torsion and resume the blood supply to the stomach and the spleen.
Ruptured Bile Duct
Number of Claims: 102
Average Cost per Claim: $2,245
The Condition
The bile duct is responsible for transferring the bile from the liver to the gallbladder and small intestine. The gallbladder stores the bile that is necessary for proper digestion of the food. An inflammation of the gallbladder or the bile duct can cause a rupture in these organs. This would necessitate surgery and medical treatment
Treatment
A resection may be needed to treat a serious case of ruptured bile duct in dogs and cats.
Laryngeal Paralysis
Number of Claims: 126
Average Cost per Claim: $2,042
The Condition
Laryngeal paralysis occurs when the abductor muscles of the larynx fail to function properly leading to excessive panting, voice change, loud breathing sounds and gasping or distress while breathing.
Treatment
Ventriculocordectomy also known as De-Barking surgery (thinning out the vocal folds), Partial Arytenoidectomy (removing one vocal fold and arytenoids cartilage), Laryngeal tieback and castellation surgeries are some treatment options for this condition.
Gastrointestinal Foreign Bodies
Intestinal - Foreign Object
Number of Claims: 1,005
Average Cost per Claim: $1,967
Stomach - Foreign Object
Number of Claims: 954
Average Cost per Claim: $1,502
The Condition
Gastrointestinal foreign bodies occur when the pets consume items that do not pass readily from their gastrointestinal tract. Toys, clothes, strings, pennies and sticks are some commonly ingested foreign material. Based on the location where it is trapped, the degree of obstruction and the time it has been trapped, the pet may suffer from health problems. For example ingestion of strings by cats can lead to perforation of the intestinal tract and cause the intestinal contents to spill out into the abdomen. Similarly, ingestion of lead materials can lead to systemic toxicities.
Treatment
Based on where the foreign material is lodged, surgical removal may be required. If the foreign bodies are lodged in the stomach and intestines, gastronomy and enterotomy may be needed. When the foreign bodies have completely obstructed the intestines causing severe damage, then multiple enterotomies or even anastomosis, which is procedure where a segment of the intestines is removed while the remaining portion is reattached, may be adopted.
Tumor of the Throat
Number of Claims: 124
Average Cost per Claim: $1,677
The Condition
Throat tumors, also known as laryngeal tumors, can affect the larynx, thyroid and trachea of a dog or cat. Some of these tumors like chondrosarcoma or a thyroid tumor can be malignant in nature and is often life-threatening.
Treatment
For malignant tumors of the throat, the surgical removal of the affected part of the throat is recommended. External beam radiation therapy and radioiodine therapy are some treatment options for thyroid tumors in dogs and cats.
Broken Leg (Plate)
Number of Claims: 350
Average Cost per Claim: $1,587
The Condition
The curious, overactive nature of your cat and dog can result in some broken bones in the legs. The fractures are extremely painful. Along with the swelling in the leg, look out for grinding under your fingers.
Treatment
Most of the time when there are chances of frequent leg breaks, the broken leg is fixed with a plate. Although setting the leg is far cheaper, it also puts the dog or cat at a greater risk of frequent broken legs and in certain cases the pet may lose its entire leg. As opposed to this, a plate and screws treatment ensures that your dog or cats leg remains in a good condition.
Torn Knee Ligament/Cartilage
Number of Claims:6,831
Average Cost per Claim: $1,578
The Condition
The stifle joint or the knee joint in cats and dogs connects the thigh bone to the lower leg bones which include the tibia and fibula. The complex bone structure is further supported by anterior and posterior cruciates or "cross" ligaments that provide stability to the kneecap. Due to jumping, or while the pet is engaged in some athletic activities, there can be excessive stress on the ligaments, resulting in a slight fray or a complete tear. The risk increases when the dog or cat is overweight.
Treatment
To treat a torn ligament or cartilage, the veterinarian may recommend a stabilization surgery, especially if the pet is overweight. This is often followed with range-of-motion exercises, electrical muscle stimulation and massage. Apart from surgical intervention, an implant in the joints can be used to repair the cruciate attachment to the joint.
Ear Canal Surgery - Ablation
Number of Claims: 104
Average Cost per Claim: $1,285
The Condition
The ear is the site of frequent infections in dogs and cats. These long-standing infections often result in irreversible damage to the ear canal. The ear canal becomes thickened and the eardrum is ruptured due to the chronic infection. In certain cases cancer may also necessitate a surgery.
Treatment
The ear canal surgery, also known as ear canal ablation, is done to remove the diseased ear canal completely. After the ear canal has been removed, the area is sutured closed.
Most of these conditions are not very common. However, when the steep veterinary bills are put forth it can be quite a shock for most pet owners. It is best to save up and keep a pet contingency fund or better still, get pet insurance to cover the expensive bills. Meanwhile, it is a good idea to watch out for any abnormal behavior in your pets to identify any health problem. The earlier the problem is diagnosed the lesser are the costs, and the chances of recovery are increased as well.

People who have consumed alcohol heavily in their life are at an increased risk of suffering from liver problems, such as alcoholic liver disease.
Those who do not drink alcohol excessively may also experience a liver disease, known as a non-alcoholic fatty liver disease
It may range in severity, and nonalcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH) is the condition when there is an inflammation of the liver, which is really serious and might lead to cirrhosis and end-stage liver disease.
Statistics suggests that more than twenty percent of the population in the United States is affected by NAFLD, and 2-3 percent by NASH. In the case of NAFLD, patients do not have any symptoms or very little, such as weight loss, malaise, fatigue, and pain in the upper right abdomen.
NAFLD occurs in the case of fat accumulation in the liver, which is not a result of alcohol, but the reason may be malnutrition, insulin resistance, rapid weight loss, diabetes, high cholesterol, viral hepatitis, and some medications like aspirin, diltiazem, corticosteroids, amiodarone, tetracycline, or antiviral drugs.
The treatment of NASH and NAFLD tends to remove the potential causes, or risk factors, like weight loss, stopping the use of drugs, or diabetes control.
Drug treatments have been shown to fail to treat the issue but include ursodeoxycholic acid, glucagon, metformin, glutamine infusion, and metronidazole.
Moreover, there are natural treatments for non-alcoholic fatty liver disease, which have provided excellent effects, such as:
-Low-glycemic diet
In order to treat and prevent this disease, it is of great help to avoid high-glycemic-index (GI) foods, as they raise blood sugar levels, like brown rice, potatoes, watermelon, and processed foods such as beer, chocolate bars, and sweetened cereals.
A 2008 study published in the Canadian Journal of Gastroenterology showed that sugar leads to NAFLD, and 80percent of NAFLD patients consumed sufficient amounts of juices and soft drinks that equaled 12 teaspoons of sugar.
Therefore, you should consume low GI foods, like onions, apples, garlic, eggs, legumes, pears, artichokes, broccoli, cabbage, Brussels sprouts, carrots, and green leafy vegetables.
-Exercise
One of the most effective treatments for non-alcoholic fatty liver disease is weight loss. According to a systematic review published in the Journal of Hepatology in 2012, exercise is an inexpensive and effective therapy for NAFLD.
Namely, this review involved 12 studies that examined the effects of aerobic exercise and progressive resistance training in the case of a non-alcoholic fatty liver disease in adults.
40 minutes of moderate to intense aerobic exercise for 5 days in a week effectively helps in the treatment of this disease, as it will enhance the liver quality and balance enzyme values.
-Flaxseed
Flaxseed contains phytoconstituents which effectively prevent harmful hormones straining the liver.
The journal Lipids in Health and Disease published a 2013 study which indicated that the mixture of flaxseed oil and alpha-lipoic acid improve the function of the liver and prevent fat accumulation and oxidative stress, so it protects from this disease.
For best effects, in order to preserve the freshness of flaxseed oil, and avoid rancidity, you should ground it using a coffee grinder. Then, you can add it to your salads.
-Dandelion
Dandelion leaf or root (Taraxacum officinale) is an extremely beneficial as it enhances liver functions and cleanses it in the cleanses it in the case of NAFLD. It purifies and metabolizes the fat deposited in the liver.
The journal Food and Chemical Toxicology published a study which discovered that the extract of dandelion leaf prevent and treat obesity-related NAFLD, and efficiently reduces the accumulation of fat in the liver and lowers insulin resistance.
The tea of dandelion root is of great help in this case. You should add a teaspoon in a cup of boiling hot water, cover and steep for 10 minutes. Then, strain and drink a cup of it 3 times a day for 3 weeks.
-Cilantro
Cilantro or coriander (Coriandrum sativum) is an effective herbal treatment, which is high in antioxidants and has powerful antihyperglycemic effects. It provides great effects in the case of liver issues, and conditions linked to NAFLD, especially diabetes.
-Amla or Indian gooseberry
Indian gooseberry (Emblica Officinalis), or amla, Amalaki fruit, is a popular herb in the Ayurvedic medicine, that has powerful rejuvenating properties and is extremely useful in treating fatty liver disease and diabetes.
It is rich in antioxidants which support the function of the liver, such as ellagic acid, vitamin C, corilagin, gallic acid, and gallotannin. It has also been found to help in the case of hepatotoxin-induced liver inflammation, which is a common symptom of NASH.
-Milk thistle
Milk thistle (Silybum marianum) is believed to be one of the most beneficial herbal remedies to prevent NAFLD and improve the function of the liver. Its flavonoids prevent liver damage, detox the body, and raise the levels of glutathione in the liver.
Glutathione is an essential component for a low function of the liver in the case of NAFLD.
Research has also shown that it is also beneficial for various other liver ailments, like cirrhosis, alcoholic hepatitis, viral hepatitis, and chemical toxicity. Experts recommend drinking of 900 milligrams twice daily with meals.
-Licorice root
Licorice root (Glycyrrhiza glabra) is very useful in the treatment of NAFLD. It is also commonly used in the Ayurvedic medicine. The journal Phytotherapy Research published a double-blind, randomized study in 2012, who found that the extract of licorice root greatly reduced liver enzymes in 66 patients with NAFLD.
You should pour boiling water over a teaspoon of licorice root powder, let it steep for 10 minutes, strain and enjoy your licorice root tea 1-2 a day.
-Cinnamon
Cinnamon (Cinnamomum seylanicum) is a warming herb which aids digestion and supports liver health. Nutrition Research published a double-blind, placebo-controlled study in 2014, which involved 50 NAFLD patients who randomly took either two capsules of cinnamon or two placebo capsules daily, for 3 months. Researchers found that the consumption of 1500 milligrams of cinnamon on a daily basis improves NAFLD.
-Turmeric
Turmeric (Curcuma longa) has an extremely beneficial active component, curcumin, which effectively treats liver diseases and jaundice. This amazing spice also lowers the inflammation, oxidative stress, changes fat metabolism, and improves insulin sensitivity, so it reduces liver injury and non-alcoholic fatty liver disease.
Moreover, it efficiently treats liver cancer, known as hepatocarcinoma, and liver fibrosis. You can prepare a turmeric tea, or simply add it to your meals, and enjoy its health benefits.
Here we will suggest some effective ways to prevent liver disease in a completely natural, and safe way. These tips will also be of great help in the case of a liver transplant:
Limit the intake of saturated fat: You should focus on a diet high in whole foods and nutrients, in order to strengthen the immune system and prevent liver disease.
Avoid alcohol: You should avoid alcohol consumption even if you suffer from the non-alcoholic variety of the disease. Note that some drugs and cough syrups also contain alcohol.
Avoid processed foods: Processed foods and ingredients like corn syrup and high fructose corn syrup (HFCS) are extremely harmful. HFCS creates uric acid that leads to high blood pressure, liver damage, and gout.
Furthermore, GMO foods like corn damage the good gut bacteria and impede digestion, which destroys the proper function of the liver.
Avoid harmful drugs: Your liver may also be damaged by the use of excessive amounts of acetaminophen (Tylenol).
Pregnancy precaution: It is recommended that women who had a liver transplant should avoid pregnancy for at least 1 year after it, and should avoid breastfeeding due to possible risks of the baby to be exposed to immunosuppressive medicines through the milk.
Undergo liver enzyme tests: It is advisable that you do liver enzyme tests if you have fatty liver disease.
Avoid receiving live virus vaccines: Note that people who have undergone a liver transplantation ought not to receive live virus vaccines.
Moreover, there are also some natural remedies which have proved to be extremely helpful in the case of non-alcoholic fatty liver disease, including carnitine, green tea, folic acid, betaine, bile salts, choline, vitamin E, papaya, vitamin B6, grape seed extract, vitamin B12, barberry, vitamin D3 (cholecalciferol), ginger, pine bark extract, S-Adenosyl methionine (SAM-e), cascara sagrada, southern ginseng, and goldenseal.

Doubled my sit ups. Gawd, I hate sit ups. Clearly. Its my tailbone!! I have the biggest, most protrusive tailbone in the history of human existence. Sit ups HURT ME people, and not in the good hurt kind of way that exercise is supposed to be! I will say, however, that at the beginning of FXB, I couldnt do one single rowboat. Not one. The instructor would call out rowboats and I would try - so hard - but I just couldnt do it. It hurt too bad and I just wasnt strong enough to "pull myself out" of tailbone. Now, I can do them. They still hurt like hell, but I have strengthened my core enough to do them at about quarter speed to what the instructor is yelling - but Ill take that over zero any day.

The stat I am most impressed with on the whole sheet?

Hands down, my mile time. I cried at orientation when I finished in 11:30 because I had never completed a mile so fast in my life. I set a goal to finish in under 10 minutes at week 10. I completed the mile in 9 minutes and 21 seconds. Mind. Blown. It wasnt pretty, I was gasping at breath for most of it and I almost puked twice - but thats neither here nor there.

And last, but certainly not least, the before/after pictures. (Oh-my-gawd-take-a-deep-breath-and-hit-publish-before-I-lose-my-nerve.)

Hudson 10 Months
Hudson 10 Months
10 Months old
Hudson Trent
Wow I cant believe I am already writing this post (which I do believe I skipped a 9 month post but not too much has changed since then.) It just doesnt seem like he should already be 10 months old. It is crazy how fast this year is going by!
Hudson you are such a happy little boy! You smile and light up anytime anyone talks to you or says your name! Your little smile brings so many people so much joy! You laugh and giggle all the time! You have started clapping when you get excited and you clap over everything and this Momma thinks it is the cutest thing ever!
You weigh about 21-22 lbs and are 30 inches long. You are wearing a size 4 in diapers and anywhere from 12-18 months in clothes and about a size 4 in shoes! You have 4 top teeth and 3 bottom! You are still breastfeeding, and love all kinds of foods. We have started some table foods and you love it! You like most baby foods still except for peas and green beans. You love drinking out of a sippy cup especially your big brothers!
You crawl everywhere of course and have even been taking a few steps. You can stand on your own and then you lower yourself back to the floor. You take a few steps here and there so I dont think it will be to long until you are walking.
You say Dada all the time, and Mama occasionally. You love playing with your big brother and it just melts this Mamas heart seeing you two interact and hearing you all laugh together, so sweet!!!!
You are such a joy and a blessing in my life sweet baby boy!!!!!!

My 28th Birthday and 10 Year High School Reunion Im old
My 28th Birthday and 10 Year High School Reunion Im old
I turned 28 this year! I feel old and like a kid, all at once. We celebrated my birthday on the 6th, because Bryan had worship practice on the evening of my actual birthday. We had all of our immediate family and close friends over for a little barbeque. Totally last minute. Bryan actually planned and invited everyone with only about 24 hours until show time. But almost everyone came and it was extremely low key. Just my kind of party!
Bryan asked what I wanted for my birthday and I said that it would be amazing to start my day with a crumb cake doughnut and a Java Heaven coffee, have lunch with him and Shepherd on my break, and then go see a movie that night. That is exactly what happened! Bryan got up and took Shepherd to get the doughnuts and coffee while I got ready and then brought my Cisneros tacos for lunch! He also gave me my birthday gift - tickets to see Britney Spears in Las Vegas in a few weeks!!! If I hadnt been at work I would have been squealing with excitement.

I made plans for the night of my actual birthday to go out to dinner and a movie with my sisters. We went to Tommys in Visalia (their calamari is amazing) and then went to see The Intern at the downtown theater. It was so. stinking. good. I loved it. Robert De Niro was incredible in it. He kept reminding us of our Dad. Anne Hathaway did a great job too!
I dont have a lot pictures from the actual day, but I had an amazing birthday this year. It was sweet and simple with lots of family time!
The next day was my 10 year high school reunion, which I made Denise come up for! I havent gone out with Bryan in so long, it was so great to have a proper date with him. I like that guy. :)

I saw a lot of old friends and caught up with a few I see on social media and not in real life. It was great to hear everyones stories! I didnt get many pictures (the three bottom ones are from Denise) because Ive really been trying to stay off my phone and be in the moment at events. This is good, but it also means I capture less. Im still trying to find the right balance!

I had such an amazing week, but it wasnt over yet. My Sprinkle was just two days away and it really put the cherry on top of the whole week!

Herbs to treat inflammation: The 10 most powerful natural medicines that really work

---------------------------- (NaturalNews) Oftentimes, the knee-jerk reaction of the medical community to inflammation is to dole out drugs to reduce it. In fact, there is a whole classification of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, or NSAIDs, available by prescription and over-the-counter. NSAIDs are associated with a variety of risks, according to new labeling by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (1), including an increased risk for cardiovascular events like heart attack and stroke.
Fortunately, you can use herbs for inflammation instead of dangerous drugs.
#1 Black Pepper
People refer to black pepper as the King of Spices because of its intoxicating, rich aroma and complex flavor. Black pepper owes its distinctive pungent flavor to piperine, which also provides an astonishing anti-inflammatory effect. Piperine inhibits the expression of a gene associated with arthritis and the spread of cancer, MMP13. Even at low doses, piperine reduces inflammation by depressing prostaglandin production. Furthermore, piperine significantly suppresses the perception of pain (2) and arthritis symptoms while decreasing inflammation in joints.
#2 Cardamom
As the Queen of Spices, cardamom also reduces inflammation. Part of the ginger family, cardamom is native to India and Sri Lanka; healers there have used cardamom to reduce inflammation for centuries.
#3 Cayenne
Cayenne pepper contains capsaicin. Exposure to capsaicin causes body tissues to release substance P, which your body usually releases immediately after tissue damage. Capsaicin does not actually damage tissue -- this chemical only tricks your body into acting as if damage had occurred.
Repeated exposure of one part of your body to capsaicin will deplete that area of its substance P, which increases tolerance to capsaicin in people who regularly eat hot peppers.
Reducing substance P in one area of your body also decreases your sense of pain in that part. Capsaicin cream products take advantage of this effect to reduce arthritis pain in joints and other sources of chronic pain. Best of all, the capsaicin in cayenne pepper can help protect your stomach (3) from ulcers associated with NSAID use.
#4 Chamomile
Ancient physicians Dioskurides, Galen and Plinius recommended tea to relieve inflammation of the mouth. Chamomile is a sun-loving plant whose flowers smell like fresh apples. Oil distilled from these flowers contain a-bisabolol and chamazulene cyclic sesquiterpenes, which directly reduce inflammation. Chamomile oil also contains bisabolol oxides, farnesene and spiro-ether that have anti-inflammatory and antispasmodic properties.
#5 Ginger
Traditional medicine has relied on gingers anti-inflammatory powers for centuries. According to the University of Maryland Medical Center (4), there is also evidence that ginger eases pain associated with that classic inflammatory disease, arthritis. Additionally, ginger eases stomach upset, nausea and vomiting.
#6 Turmeric
Turmeric gives curry its flavor and yellow color; food manufacturers also add turmeric to butter and cheese for color. Healers have used turmeric for more than 4,000 years to relieve inflammation, treat digestive problems and fight infections.
The active ingredient in turmeric, curcumin, is an antioxidant that removes dangerous free radicals from the body. Free radicals cause cell damage that leads to inflammation, including damage to cell membranes, negatively affect DNA and cause cells to die. Additionally, turmeric lowers two types of enzymes known to cause inflammation.
#7 Aloe
Aloe not only reduces inflammation but also eases pain and promotes skin repair and healing. According to the University of Maryland Medical Center, the anti-inflammatory effects of aloe gel are superior to 1 percent hydrocortisone cream.
#8 Celery seed
Celery seed works to reduce inflammation by acting as a diuretic, which means it helps the body get rid of excess fluid by increasing urine output. Celery seed is especially effective in treating inflammation caused by arthritis and gout, a type of arthritis.
#9 Green tea
Green tea contains polyphenols, micronutrients that work in the body to prevent certain disease mechanisms -- such as inflammation -- from happening. The main polyphenol in green tea is epigallocatechin gallate, or EGCG. Together, EGCG and the other polyphenols in green tea have anti-inflammatory and anticancer properties.
Green tea is especially helpful in reducing inflammation in the digestive tract. This natural herb may reduce gastrointestinal inflammation associated with Crohns disease and ulcerative colitis. Green tea may also help with arthritis by reducing inflammation and slowing down cartilage destruction associated with the disease.
#10 Pomegranate
Pomegranates contain flavonols, a type of antioxidant, which seem especially helpful in reducing inflammation associated with osteoarthritis. In that condition, inflammation contributes to the destruction of cartilage. Pomegranate seems to block the production of an enzyme associated with cartilage destruction.
The next time you struggle with inflammation or the medical conditions caused by inflammation, try using an herbal remedy before resorting to dangerous drugs and chemicals. Herbs are highly effective in reducing inflammation and carry relatively low risks for complications.

Weekend Recap Bryans 10 Year Class Reunion Mini Quiche Recipe
Weekend Recap Bryans 10 Year Class Reunion Mini Quiche Recipe
My weekend started on Thursday night when I went to dinner with my sister and her family. I got the sweetest video of Shepherd and my nephew Owen. They havent been able to hang out for quite some time now and they missed each other. It was adorable:
On Friday after work, Shep and I went over to Colleen and Jordans to hang out. I cant wait for Baby Brown to make his appearance and its so cute to ask Shepherd where the baby is! He points right to Colleens belly. Its adorable.
Saturday, I woke up really early for whatever reason, so I decided to go hit up some yard sales while the boys slept. When I got home they woke up and we ran errands and just hung around the house. Saturday evening we went to Bryans 10 year class reunion, which was small but fun! I got to catch up with Andrea about motherhood, babies and life in general, then made the rounds with everyone else. One of the highlights was when Amanda came up to me and said that I inspired her to start a blog! She and her boyfriend just bought a house in SLO and they are gutting it and starting over. I caught up on all the posts last night and I cant WAIT to see how it all comes together!
Bryan and I also had a great discussion with Kara about music, journalism, social media/networking. It was really interesting. It is not often that someone from Hanford moves to New York and actually makes it. Ive followed her writings on the Daily Beast over the years. Kara and I were on staff at the high school newspaper (so high brow) and now shes writing full-time. What a dream!
Anyways, we skipped out right before 11 so we could get home to our boy. I wish more of the graduating class had attended, but luckily there were a lot of people that showed up that I havent talked to in a long time so it worked out.
Today we slept in and I ended up getting a migraine. I hate those dumb things. They are the worst! So it ate up most of my afternoon. When I woke up, I felt so weak and disoriented all I did was lay on the couch. Finally around 7pm I kicked into gear. I just knew that I had a busy week this week that I couldnt not get some grocery shopping and meal prep done.
Bryan took a nap and Shepherd and I loaded up to go to the great Bullseye, Target. After spending way too much skrilla, yes I said skrilla, I called in a pizza at Boston House of Pizza in the parking lot and had just enough time to drop off the cold stuff in the fridge from Target and hit up the grocery store before walking over to grab the pizza. It was perfect. We got home, ate, and I started teriyaki chicken in the crock pot and made twelve mini quiches for breakfast in the mornings over the next few days.

You know what is stupid? Photographing food. UGH. A food blogger, I am not. The quiches have a pie crust bottom, zucchini, spinach, bell pepper, ham, a little feta and a little cheddar cheese. I used the scalloped end of a biscuit cutter (that was about the size of a 1/4 measuring scoop wide) on the pie crust and put that in a muffin pan which was sprayed with baking spray. I fill scooped the veggie mixture in and topped with 9 eggs mixed with a bit of milk so that it was about 3/4 of the way full. Are you asking yourself why I specifically mentioned that I used a scalloped biscuit cutter on the pie crust? Well Ill tell you, because A. its prettier and 2. I feel like the egg attaches better to the scalloped edges and it holds together better. Does it make sense? Maybe. If you arent sold on the science behind it just refer to my first point. Its prettier. The second point is just a plus if its true. And Im 99.4% positive Im right.
Anyways, I baked them for about 20 minutes in a 350 degree oven. I was going to cut up tomato but usually the simpler the better with these. Once cooled, pop them in a ziplock bag and heat them in the oven, microwave or toaster oven (which is my preference because the crust gets crunchy again) in the morning before running out the door. Perfect, healthy breakfast. Youre welcome.
Life hack: If you ever have some veggie/ham mixture left, save it and throw it on a salad with some strawberries, blue berries and Raspberry vinaigrette. YUM. Way to make two meals out of one. GO YOU!
I have class tonight and a group meeting tomorrow night and Wednesday is the first day of school at work! Not to mention homework. Eeek! Sometime this week I have to make it over to Visalia to pick up a bridal shower gift for the event on Saturday which Im one two days late RSVPing for because I didnt read the entire invitation. I hate me.
Hope you guys had a great weekend and a happy Monday!

Top 10 Dog Foods in USA
Top 10 Dog Foods in USA
A few who have lived with dogs will disagree that dogs do not have feelings and they have no trouble acknowledging them. When you are off to work every morning or have to go out somewhere, you have no option but to lock your dog in the apartment. However, what happens when you get back home? Your dog comes running to you and licks your face, doesnt he? In spite of the fact that you locked him alone inside, he eagerly waits for you to come back and welcomes you with immense joy. Dogs indeed are the most loyal and adorable pets to have. They are amazing stress busters as well. However, along with the perks mentioned above, comes a great responsibility of grooming them and regulating their eating habits. To regulate their eating habits is a little tricky, since dogs are very finicky about their food. Even dog food sometimes doesnt seem to please their palate easily.
