My 28th Birthday and 10 Year High School Reunion Im old
My 28th Birthday and 10 Year High School Reunion Im old
I turned 28 this year! I feel old and like a kid, all at once. We celebrated my birthday on the 6th, because Bryan had worship practice on the evening of my actual birthday. We had all of our immediate family and close friends over for a little barbeque. Totally last minute. Bryan actually planned and invited everyone with only about 24 hours until show time. But almost everyone came and it was extremely low key. Just my kind of party!
Bryan asked what I wanted for my birthday and I said that it would be amazing to start my day with a crumb cake doughnut and a Java Heaven coffee, have lunch with him and Shepherd on my break, and then go see a movie that night. That is exactly what happened! Bryan got up and took Shepherd to get the doughnuts and coffee while I got ready and then brought my Cisneros tacos for lunch! He also gave me my birthday gift - tickets to see Britney Spears in Las Vegas in a few weeks!!! If I hadnt been at work I would have been squealing with excitement.

I made plans for the night of my actual birthday to go out to dinner and a movie with my sisters. We went to Tommys in Visalia (their calamari is amazing) and then went to see The Intern at the downtown theater. It was so. stinking. good. I loved it. Robert De Niro was incredible in it. He kept reminding us of our Dad. Anne Hathaway did a great job too!
I dont have a lot pictures from the actual day, but I had an amazing birthday this year. It was sweet and simple with lots of family time!
The next day was my 10 year high school reunion, which I made Denise come up for! I havent gone out with Bryan in so long, it was so great to have a proper date with him. I like that guy. :)

I saw a lot of old friends and caught up with a few I see on social media and not in real life. It was great to hear everyones stories! I didnt get many pictures (the three bottom ones are from Denise) because Ive really been trying to stay off my phone and be in the moment at events. This is good, but it also means I capture less. Im still trying to find the right balance!

I had such an amazing week, but it wasnt over yet. My Sprinkle was just two days away and it really put the cherry on top of the whole week!

Hansen Family Reunion
Hansen Family Reunion
This was our very first family reunion together as a married couple! It was a lot of fun! It was for Kasons side of the family. It was his grandma Popes side, The Hansens. It was at the Churchs Camp up on Heber Mountain. It was amazing up there! We left on Friday and just took our time getting up there. We made a stop in Heber on the side of the road and there were two Peterbilts parked there so I didnt even think anything of it. Then Kas told me that this was where he parked in his truck when he was driving and we were up late just texting as friends and he finally broke down and told me how much he loved me, and had loved me and it killed him just being my friend. My heart melted! He is so perfect! I remember that night so perfectly! July 27th, 2011, it was like 2 in the morning and we both had to be up early. He said he woke up early that morning and we were both so tired but he got on the road and couldnt stop smiling. I know it sounds so dumb but I feel like our whole lives changed that night as I told him how I felt too. Now we were sitting there together MARRIED!
We arrived in Heber and went to the campground to help set everything up. We then went to a Mexican restaurant with his family and then back to the hotel. We had to be up early Saturday. That morning we woke up at like 6:30.. yuck! Then we ate continental breakfast (all you dedicated blog readers of mine, know that is my FAV!) We then went to the reunion. It was fun to meet people who couldnt make it to the wedding and to see faces I remembered. Everyone was so nice and sweet and his family is so fun. Kelli and her sisters did a really good job putting it all together. We left around 4:30 and went back to the hotel to take a quick nap. I was kinda nauseas all weekend so it was nice to just kinda sit. I felt like I was being such a bum, but I couldnt get my body to feel better. We went to the Alpine slides that night because I am not sure if I mentioned this but our hotel was in Park City. The slides were so fun and all of his aunts and cousins were there. We then went to dinner with Kelt, Kelli, Kiley, Had, and Grayson. It was yummy! We were all exhausted afterwords! We finally got back to the hotel around 11. Kas and I decided we wanted to get a late check out. So we didnt have to be out of the hotel by NOON! Yes please! We went to bed and I woke up around 9:45 and went down and got us breakfast while he stayed in bed. It is like getting points for breakfast in bed.. and I didnt have to make it! ha ha ha. We then got ready and packed up. We got on the freeway and Kas used to drive this road all the time in his big rig. He was telling me how he used to drive straight to Wyoming though, instead of heading back to Heber. So I said, well lets go to Wyoming! He thought I was kidding... but we kept driving! Just because! We stopped at the sign and took a picture and then stopped in Evanston. We drove around and then stopped at the Boot Barn. We spent like 2 hours in there and way too much money! Kas got a sexy cowboy hat and I got a new pair of boots! We went to lunch and then headed back to Utah. We felt so adventurous! We drove on all the back roads home and stopped in Fillmore at his old Haystacks. That was pretty, then we drove on through Minersville and caught a beautiful sunset. Then we came out in Cedar and ate Ihop. We finally made it home around 11pm. It was all so worth it though! We both said that we had some of our best laughs on this trip! We are still so in love and SO happy!

Weekend Recap Bryans 10 Year Class Reunion Mini Quiche Recipe
Weekend Recap Bryans 10 Year Class Reunion Mini Quiche Recipe
My weekend started on Thursday night when I went to dinner with my sister and her family. I got the sweetest video of Shepherd and my nephew Owen. They havent been able to hang out for quite some time now and they missed each other. It was adorable:
On Friday after work, Shep and I went over to Colleen and Jordans to hang out. I cant wait for Baby Brown to make his appearance and its so cute to ask Shepherd where the baby is! He points right to Colleens belly. Its adorable.
Saturday, I woke up really early for whatever reason, so I decided to go hit up some yard sales while the boys slept. When I got home they woke up and we ran errands and just hung around the house. Saturday evening we went to Bryans 10 year class reunion, which was small but fun! I got to catch up with Andrea about motherhood, babies and life in general, then made the rounds with everyone else. One of the highlights was when Amanda came up to me and said that I inspired her to start a blog! She and her boyfriend just bought a house in SLO and they are gutting it and starting over. I caught up on all the posts last night and I cant WAIT to see how it all comes together!
Bryan and I also had a great discussion with Kara about music, journalism, social media/networking. It was really interesting. It is not often that someone from Hanford moves to New York and actually makes it. Ive followed her writings on the Daily Beast over the years. Kara and I were on staff at the high school newspaper (so high brow) and now shes writing full-time. What a dream!
Anyways, we skipped out right before 11 so we could get home to our boy. I wish more of the graduating class had attended, but luckily there were a lot of people that showed up that I havent talked to in a long time so it worked out.
Today we slept in and I ended up getting a migraine. I hate those dumb things. They are the worst! So it ate up most of my afternoon. When I woke up, I felt so weak and disoriented all I did was lay on the couch. Finally around 7pm I kicked into gear. I just knew that I had a busy week this week that I couldnt not get some grocery shopping and meal prep done.
Bryan took a nap and Shepherd and I loaded up to go to the great Bullseye, Target. After spending way too much skrilla, yes I said skrilla, I called in a pizza at Boston House of Pizza in the parking lot and had just enough time to drop off the cold stuff in the fridge from Target and hit up the grocery store before walking over to grab the pizza. It was perfect. We got home, ate, and I started teriyaki chicken in the crock pot and made twelve mini quiches for breakfast in the mornings over the next few days.

You know what is stupid? Photographing food. UGH. A food blogger, I am not. The quiches have a pie crust bottom, zucchini, spinach, bell pepper, ham, a little feta and a little cheddar cheese. I used the scalloped end of a biscuit cutter (that was about the size of a 1/4 measuring scoop wide) on the pie crust and put that in a muffin pan which was sprayed with baking spray. I fill scooped the veggie mixture in and topped with 9 eggs mixed with a bit of milk so that it was about 3/4 of the way full. Are you asking yourself why I specifically mentioned that I used a scalloped biscuit cutter on the pie crust? Well Ill tell you, because A. its prettier and 2. I feel like the egg attaches better to the scalloped edges and it holds together better. Does it make sense? Maybe. If you arent sold on the science behind it just refer to my first point. Its prettier. The second point is just a plus if its true. And Im 99.4% positive Im right.
Anyways, I baked them for about 20 minutes in a 350 degree oven. I was going to cut up tomato but usually the simpler the better with these. Once cooled, pop them in a ziplock bag and heat them in the oven, microwave or toaster oven (which is my preference because the crust gets crunchy again) in the morning before running out the door. Perfect, healthy breakfast. Youre welcome.
Life hack: If you ever have some veggie/ham mixture left, save it and throw it on a salad with some strawberries, blue berries and Raspberry vinaigrette. YUM. Way to make two meals out of one. GO YOU!
I have class tonight and a group meeting tomorrow night and Wednesday is the first day of school at work! Not to mention homework. Eeek! Sometime this week I have to make it over to Visalia to pick up a bridal shower gift for the event on Saturday which Im one two days late RSVPing for because I didnt read the entire invitation. I hate me.
Hope you guys had a great weekend and a happy Monday!
