This information about hair has been hidden from the public since the Viet Nam War.
Our culture leads people to believe that hair style is a matter of personal preference, that hair style is a matter of fashion and/or convenience, and that how people wear their hair is simply a cosmetic issue. Back in the Viet Nam war however, an entirely different picture emerged, one that has been carefully covered up and hidden from public view.
In the early nineties, Sally [name changed to protect privacy] was married to a licensed psychologist who worked at a VA Medical hospital. He worked with combat veterans with PTSD, post traumatic stress disorder. Most of them had served in Viet Nam.
Sally said, “I remember clearly an evening when my husband came back to our apartment on Doctor’s Circle carrying a thick official looking folder in his hands. Inside were hundreds of pages of certain studies commissioned by the government. He was in shock from the contents. What he read in those documents completely changed his life. From that moment on my conservative middle of the road husband grew his hair and beard and never cut them again. What is more, the VA Medical center let him do it, and other very conservative men in the staff followed his example. As I read the documents, I learned why.

It seems that during the Viet Nam War special forces in the war department had sent undercover experts to comb American Indian Reservations looking for talented scouts, for tough young men trained to move stealthily through rough terrain. They were especially looking for men with outstanding, almost supernatural, tracking abilities. Before being approached, these carefully selected men were extensively documented as experts in tracking and survival.

With the usual enticements, the well proven smooth phrases used to enroll new recruits, some of these Indian trackers were then enlisted. Once enlisted, an amazing thing happened. Whatever talents and skills they had possessed on the reservation seemed to mysteriously disappear, as recruit after recruit failed to perform as expected in the field.
Serious casualities and failures of performance led the government to contract expensive testing of these recruits, and this is what was found.
When questioned about their failure to perform as expected, the older recruits replied consistently that when they received their required military haircuts, they could no longer ‘sense’ the enemy, they could no longer access a ‘sixth sense’ , their ‘intuition’ no longer was reliable, they couldn’t ‘read’ subtle signs as well or access subtle extrasensory information.
So the testing institute recruited more Indian trackers, let them keep their long hair, and tested them in multiple areas. Then they would pair two men together who had received the same scores on all the tests. They would let one man in the pair keep his hair long, and gave the other man a military haircut. Then the two men retook the tests.
Time after time the man with long hair kept making high scores. Time after time, the man with the short hair failed the tests in which he had previously scored high scores.
Here is a typical test:
The recruit is sleeping out in the woods. An armed ‘enemy’ approaches the sleeping man. The long haired man is awakened out of his sleep by a strong sense of danger and gets away long before the enemy is close, long before any sounds from the approaching enemy are audible.

In another version of this test the long haired man senses an approach and somehow intuits that the enemy will perform a physical attack. He follows his ‘sixth sense‘ and stays still, pretending to be sleeping, but quickly grabs the attacker and ‘kills’ him as the attacker reaches down to strangle him.
This same man, after having passed these and other tests, then received a military haircut and consistently failed these tests, and many other tests that he had previously passed.
So, the document recommended that all Indian trackers be exempt from military haircuts. In fact, it required that trackers keep their hair long.”
The mammalian body has evolved over millions of years. Survival skills of human and animal at times seem almost supernatural. Science is constantly coming up with more discoveries about the amazing abilities of man and animal to survive. Each part of the body has highly sensitive work to perform for the survival and well being of the body as a whole. The body has a reason for every part of itself.
Hair is an extension of the nervous system, it can be correctly seen as exteriorized nerves, a type of highly-evolved ‘feelers’ or ‘antennae’ that transmit vast amounts of important information to the brain stem, the limbic system, and the neocortex.
Not only does hair in people, including facial hair in men, provide an information highway reaching the brain, hair also emits energy, the electromagnetic energy emitted by the brain into the outer environment. This has been seen in Kirlian photography when a person is photographed with long hair and then rephotographed after the hair is cut.
When hair is cut, receiving and sending transmissions to and from the environment are greatly hampered. This results in ‘numbing-out’.
Cutting of hair is a contributing factor to unawareness of environmental distress in local ecosystems. It is also a contributing factor to insensitivity in relationships of all kinds. It contributes to sexual frustration.
Conclusion
In searching for solutions for the distress in our world, it may be time for us to consider that many of our most basic assumptions about reality are in error. It may be that a major part of the solution is looking at us in the face each morning when we see ourselves in the mirror.

The story of Sampson and Delilah in the Bible has a lot of encoded truth to tell us. When Delilah cut Sampson’s hair, the once undefeatable Sampson was defeated.

Lower Risk of Alzheimers Keep you blood sugar levels normal and thus avoiding elevated insulin David Perlmutter MD

Lower Risk of Alzheimers Keep you blood sugar levels normal and thus avoiding elevated insulin David Perlmutter MD

Alzheimer’s News – This Should Be Front Page!
.entry-header
It’s a staggering statistic, but we are told that by the year 2050 as many as 16 million Americans will be living with Alzheimer’s disease. Projected costs, mostly dedicated to nursing homes and homecare, are estimated to exceed $1.1 trillion.
Research dedicated to Alzheimer’s disease is laser-focused on finding a cure. Unfortunately, our most well-respected institutions are coming up empty-handed despite the incredible dedication of monetary resources in this area.
With these ideas in mind, it is unfortunate, if not heart-wrenching, to consider the simple fact that there is a profound relationship between Alzheimer’s disease and diabetes.
Melissa Schilling, a professor at the NYU Stern School of Business, has just completed a large scale study in which she reviewed the extensive literature that clearly associates diabetes with Alzheimer’s disease, both in terms of risk and now in terms of mechanism. She was able to find robust evidence that links insulin, as well as the enzyme that degrades insulin (insulin-degrading enzyme or IDE), and the development of Alzheimer’s disease in itself. Her study strongly suggest that elevated insulin plays a critical role in the development of the various hallmarks characteristic of Alzheimer’s disease.
To be clear, there are a variety of so-called “Alzheimer’s drugs” on the market. These drugs do not treat the underlying causes of Alzheimer’s and are designed to simply work on reducing symptoms of the disease. That said, the overwhelming evidence indicates that these drugs are ineffective, even as it relates to managing symptoms.
I have nothing against research focused on finding a cure for this dreadful disease. However, I am quite taken by the fact that hardly any attention is given to the notion of preventing Alzheimer’s in the first place, despite the fact that we now have such solid evidence that lifestyle choices, predominantly diet and exercise, play a huge role in determining who does or who doesn’t end up with this diagnosis.
It is for this reason that I have been so deeply dedicated to supporting a low carbohydrate diet, a diet that’s very restrictive when it comes to simple sugars, to do everything possible to reduce the risk for diabetes. The evidence relating dietary choices to diabetes risk is well substantiated at this point and should be, in my opinion, part of the routine discussion in a doctor’s office. This discussion now takes on an even higher level of importance as we recognize this relationship between elevated insulin, as is seen in type II diabetes, and risk for Alzheimer’s disease.
Back in 2013 when I wrote Grain Brain, I emphasized the importance of insulin in terms of brain health, and included a fasting insulin level in laboratory recommendations. Dr. Schilling now confirms the fundamental importance of testing insulin levels precisely because of this implication for brain health. As she was recently quoted in Diabetes News Journal:
If we can raise awareness and get more people tested for hyperinsulinemia (elevated insulin), especially those who have been diagnosed with or who are at risk for dementia, it could significantly lessen the incidence of Alzheimer’s disease and vascular dementia, as well as other diabetes-related health problems.
You will also recall how in Grain Brain I emphasized the importance of focusing on eating foods that have a low glycemic index. It appears that Dr. Schilling agrees as she plans to petition the U.S. Food and Drug Administration to add glycemic index to food labels.
The take-home message is that brain health depends on keeping blood sugar levels normal, and thus avoiding elevated insulin.
I’m planning to interview Dr. Schilling for a future episode of The Empowering Neurologist, so keep an eye out for that, and comment here with any questions you’d like me to ask!

Keep Knocking!!

Keep Knocking!!

Tylers potty training is going awesome!!!  I dont think I should even call it "training" at this point.  The little dudes got it down.  The only issue we currently have is that if the potty seat is not in place on the toilet, hell most likely have an accident because he cant get the seat there fast enough.  Then sometimes, instead of telling us he had an accident, we find out after he shows up in the living room with no pants on carrying a clean pair in his hands.  And hes often trudged through the pee on the bathroom floor, dragging his pee filled clothes to his hamper.  So thats fun to clean up.  But I dont care.  Ill take it.

Last week, Joel took the kids to the playground.  Lily is striking a "Whitney pose" and Tyler is sneaking snacks out of the diaper bag.

Lily was taking flying leaps off the window ledge.  Shes typically a pretty big fraidy cat but apparently became a little fearless on this visit.

It is so stinking cute when Tyler upends his train to fix it.  No clue where he came up with that (even though Joel is a fixer, I dont think Tylers ever seen him do something like this).

Joel found out that East High School was putting on Cinderella so I took Lily on Sunday afternoon to see it.  She was super excited to get to go.  First, excited to wear her new fancy Easter dress which we had just purchased the day before.  Then super excited to see a princess.

She really enjoyed the musical and her behavior was pretty good considering she was confined to an auditorium theater seat for almost 2.5 hours.  She asked a lot of questions about how the stage scenery changed and how the curtain opened and closed.  She kept asking when she was going to see Cinderella in the pretty dress.  About 1/3 of the way through, she started asking every time there was a scene change if it was over yet.  I told her no, there was still a lot left and asked her if she wanted to leave.  She vehemently said no.  By the end, she was dancing in the aisle.

Meanwhile, back at the ranch, Tyler was hanging out with Daddy, apparently doing boy things.

Joel found an app on the phone that turned a picture of the kids into a talking Disney character.  The kids have gotten an insane amount of entertainment out of it (and bickering over taking turns with the phone).

Spring is almost here!!  Joel and the kids took a walk around the neighborhood.  It went a little something like this:

Fighting about whos going to pull the wagon:

Joel convincing them to take turns and they pulled each other:

Finally playing nice and pulling the (empty) wagon together:

What a good Daddy he is!

How to Keep Your Dog Healthy

How to Keep Your Dog Healthy

Eating unhealthy foods and not working out is not only bad for humans it is also bad for dogs. If your dog is not fed healthy food and is just lazing around the house 24/7, it is going to get sick. Dogs are very dear to their owners, most of them treat them as their own family members. So to ensure that your dog doesnt become weak and becomes a victim to all the dog illnesses in the air there are some things which dog owners need to follow.

Ways to Keep Your Dog Healthy and Happy

Watching and taking care of dogs is just like taking care of your own children. These cute pets require constant love and care of their masters and if you want them to live a long and happy life, implementing the following ideas to keep your pet dog healthy is the perfect thing to do.

Healthy Food
To be healthy, dogs needs to have good food. Nutrition is of utmost importance when you talk about leading a healthy lifestyle. The dogs diet is of prime importance as it is responsible for its proper growth and overall development. Feed the dog only FDA approved dog food brands and make sure the dog does not eat chocolates and oily food. Consumption of such unhealthy foods may make the dog overweight. Always keep a close watch on the physical appearance of the dog, check its coat, its eyes, its teeth, its weight and the energy level.

Vaccination
All dog owners should take their dogs to the vet after regular intervals. It is important that the pet receives the recommended vaccines at a young age so that it can be protected against a variety of diseases. Make sure you go to a vet who is experienced and is friendly with your pet.

Regular Exercise
No one wants a lethargic and a downcast dog. Healthy food will not make the dog healthy until the animal doesnt get its regular dose of exercise. Taking your dog for long walks daily is great exercise for the animal. Let your dog play with other canines in the neighborhood, mixing with other dogs is considered healthy. Playing catch with your dog is a refreshing exercise. You can also teach the dog some tricks of your own, this will make your pet strong and flexible. If you reside in an urban area where theres a shortage of parks and play areas, you can buy a dog treadmill to ensure your pet gets enough exercise.

Make Your Home Safe
It is important that you provide an animal safe environment for your pet. Never leave knives or sharp tools on the floor or anywhere where your pet dog can reach it. It is important that you make your home safe for your pet. If your pet dog is living in his own kennel on your lawn, make sure that there are no protruding nails.

The Teeth
Have you recently smelled your dogs breath? If you found it weird then it is time that you have a closer look at your dogs teeth and diet. When your dogs teeth and gums get attacked by tartar your canine can get very sick. So take the necessary precautions before it is too late, brush your dogs teeth and gums properly and give them an oral and dental rinse. You can also fix an appointment with a dog grooming center that specializes in maintaining the hygiene of your dogs teeth.

Parasitic Infections
Fleas, ticks, tapeworms and mites easily make your dogs body their home. Their dwelling can cause skin infections, hair loss and various types of allergies for dogs. Not administering proper medical care may result in serious health conditions for your beloved pet. Hence its good to check your dogs hair now and then.

Unconditional Love
This is one thing that you can do anytime you want, give your dog your unconditional love and support. Make sure your dog is happy with the way you treat it. Pat the animal on the back if it did something good and have control over if it is taking undue advantage. Giving your dog presents now and then is also a good idea to show your love. Surprising it with a bone or a new collar is a great idea.

I hope this article has answered your question on how to keep your dog healthy. Just follow the above given steps and your dog will live happily for many years to come and fill your heart with lots of happy memories.
