Our first Levels class is a success and we visit Dr Neal!
Our first Levels class is a success and we visit Dr Neal!
Yesterday I taught my first Levels class at Canine Affair Center! Two people who had signed up didnt show so we might be able to bring a couple people in from the wait list. I used Hardy as a demo dog for clicker training and he was super! Then when I put him in a crate to wait, he yelled at me so after giving him a warning, he got "too badded" out to the crate in my van. After class, I worked with him a bit and he generally remembered everything. We are still working on loose leash walking with my chair really hard since what he learned with John walking doesnt just transfer to the chair (something I learned from training Laurel - the puppy has to learn both skills).
This afternoon, Laurel had an appointment with Dr. Neal. He checked her ruptured ligament and thought that it was healing nicely however, he wants her to rest for another two weeks. He doesnt think it is going to be a chronic injury and it shouldnt interfere with her ability to do her job or play dog sport games (like agility). Of course, the movement we want to avoid - having her pivot on that foot - is exactly what she does when she is playing with Hardy! However, she is being very good at self regulation and will put herself in her crate or lay on my bed instead of tearing around the house or yard with him. Dr. Neal looked at Hardys eyes which are still goopy at times (and Laurels are starting to be goopy some too) and gave us some antibiotic ointment to use with both. He also looked at an upper tooth behind one of Hardys adult teeth - it is a baby tooth that is resisting coming out. He suggested we just leave it until it comes out on its own. Hardy weighs 36.7 lbs now and seems to be growing nicely.

Visit Korea Committee removes Seolhyuns picture as their promotional ambassador
Visit Korea Committee removes Seolhyuns picture as their promotional ambassador

Article: Visit Korea Committee deletes promotional ambassador Seolhyuns picture... what other stars were bad promotional ambassadors?
Source: The Fact via Nate
1. [+1,338, -209] ?? Well Song Hye Gyo was the promotional ambassador for the National Tax Service and had a tax evasion scandal but people love her now all because of one hit drama
2. [+1,045, -208] How is it that even Seolhyun crying looks staged. Of all the issues to have a scandal in, its the most sensitive one over history. If only she had just said she didnt know, but instead she named Kinddokkang and Toyotomi Hideyoshi... that was just the nail on the head. Even the producers told her that she couldnt search it up on her phone but she ignored them and kept doing it anyway.
3. [+1,011, -46] Wow, for how much celebrities make, it seems its just as easy to lose it all over one scandal...
4. [+87, -6] Well Park Bom never even apologized or admitted to her crimes so ???
5. [+73, -7] The promotional ambassador for the National Tax Service had a tax evasion scandal ??? hilarious
6. [+66, -2] Just please stop using celebrities to promote these things
7. [+51, -11] Its okay, you just need a hit drama like Song Hye Gyo and people will forget about it
8. [+43, -3] Please make these kids study up on basic knowledge...
9. [+41, -4] Of course her picture should be deleted, how do you expect her to promote Korea when she doesnt even know its history ??
10. [+37, -9] If I were FNCs CEO, I would postpone AOAs comeback and announce that the group was going into reflection. Then Id have all of the members take a Korean history license exam and force them to study. Image is life for these celebrities.
11. [+36, -4] Ugh embarrassing
12. [+36, -6] Bye Seolhyun
13. [+34, -10] I think anyone whos genuinely cried over their own mistake would know that shes fake crying. In a situation like that, you try to hold back your tears no matter what because youre already embarrassed of your mistake and to cry on top of that would be more embarrassing. She just looks like shes trying to convey how hard she has it, which is why people are saying it looks staged.

Article: Visit Korea Committee, "Deleting Seolhyuns picture? Just periodic change"
Source: YTN via Nate
1. [+169, -20] So are they not going to delete it then??? Theyre going to keep someone who doesnt even know Korean history as their promotional ambassador??? Wake up!!!
2. [+151, -19] A promotional ambassador for Korea doesnt even know Ahn Joong Geun, how is she going to promote Korea properly?
3. [+134, -21] I mean she is an idol after all... dumb as dol (dol = rocks)
4. [+16, -4] Its cases like this that show why history education is important
5. [+11, -3] Someone who doesnt even know basic history knowledge is a promotional ambassador for Korea? Absolutely ridiculous
6. [+11, -3] As the saying goes, a celebrity can rise and crumble overnight
7. [+10, -2] I didnt care before because I thought she was just another dumb entertainer but if shes actually a promotional ambassador for Korea, this changes everything
8. [+9, -1] Well its good that they changed the picture anyway

We leave for Canada tomorrow morning for a visit and to bring Hardy home!
I just received an update about how Hardys doing this week. According to Sue, he is still himself - generally biddable, willing to work and likes the girls (when did that happen? Oh, right, he is a teenager now). Its been hot up there too so they havent been working as much on loose leash walking as they might have otherwise but they have been working on his ability to take turns. He gets annoyed when its not his turn, but he is getting it. And although he is absolutely getting the idea of keeping the leash loose, he has started beginning each training session by checking out the rule sequence again to make sure they STILL want a loose leash. Sue thinks he will benefit from having my undivided attention when he gets home. And thats just what worries Laurel - that Hardy will have my undivided attention. Nope, both Laurel and Hardy will have to take their turns at our house too!
When we were in Canada this summer, Laurel did very well allergy-wise, even though we lived on a farm surrounded by grasses, weeds and trees. Since dogs allergies tend to be cumulative, I guess the difference was that they were different grasses, weeds and trees. Of course, now that were home, its the worst time for Laurels allergies; its been very dry and very, very hot. So, we havent been doing much of anything - I dont want her to get hot which just makes her itchier. This summer has been a huge improvement over last summer and hopefully, with the allergy shots, shell continue to improve. Still, were anxious for the first frost to occur!
Hopefully, both Laurel and Hardy will be pleasantly surprised to see each other tomorrow and equally happy when they realize that Hardy is coming home with us Monday!

Birthday visit from the tooth fairy
Birthday visit from the tooth fairy
Matthews first tooth finally fell out last night - the bottom centre left - and so the tooth fairy paid him a visit and left £1. Matthew may have given the tooth a helping hand, as he had told us earlier in the week that his teeth werent quite as wobbly. He started screaming after being put to bed and Louise found him with his tooth turned halfway round in the socket and his gum bleeding. Louise took him downstairs and as she put him on her lap the tooth fell out.
Instead of putting his tooth under the pillow, he put it in his slipper! This is likely to have made it easier for the tooth fairy to exchange the tooth for the coin without disturbing Matthew.
Today is Matthews 5th birthday, and to celebrate he took a Monsters University cake into school. He enjoyed sharing the cake and brought home enough for him to have a second piece, and for us to share the rest with the family, who came round after school. This year the theme has been Planes and Ninja Turtles - Matthew had model planes and Turtles to play with as well as games, duvet and pyjamas.

Our Visit to Atlanta
Our Visit to Atlanta
We decided to take a week trip to visit Timmy while he is working away at Atlanta! We had a wonderful time and it was a vacation for us! We went to the aquarium, the childrens museum, a couple differet splash parks/pads, the mall, the outlets, and ate alot of good food!! We had a great trip to the city and it was so nice to be with Timmy for the week, even though he worked during the day we were just glad to be with him the evenings and at night!
Also I finally decide and got the City Mini double stroller and I am so thankful, it is awesome! I wish I would have gotten it 4 months ago!!

Brents here for another busy weekend visit
Brents here for another busy weekend visit
Brent drove up from Toledo Thursday night (the 15th). It was great to see him and Hardy hadnt grown as much as hed been afraid he would! Friday morning we took Laurel to Costco and Brent said it was great to see everyones expressions of delight when they saw us walking through the store. Saturday, we attended the Instant Recall Workshop at Dogs in the Park. Brent worked with Hardy and I worked with Laurel. Brent and I had done a recall workshop with Laurel in Cleveland a couple years ago and decided to use a word instead of a whistle. Neither of us could remember what the word is, however, so we decided to go with the whistle this time around. Anyway, it was a great day with lots of fun and training! Laurel especially liked the part where she got to find me by using her nose!

Yesterday was another busy day! Hardy had his puppy class at noon and then a new puppy class at 7:00 (you cant take the 1st class too many times). Brent got to work with him in both classes and we took lots of photos!
