Oops! Another Target Ulta and CVS Haul!
Its not my fault.
Except, it totally is. Eeek! When I like something I have this major problem of going balls to the wall. Its not something I would recommend. I watch for sales, hit up stores when there are coupons and sometimes stumble on great deals. I really wish I had this mentality with the gym because Id be so skinny by now.
My husband winces whenever I walk through the door with an Ulta bag. I figure he now knows my pain whenever he comes home with Guitar Center bags. There is WAY more damage done there than here! He always argues that he spends money to make money.
I tell him I spend money so I can blog about it with you! I dont make any money from this blog, but every one has got to have a hobby right?
Denise and I went to Ulta when she was here the weekend before last and I picked up this Ulta Favorites sampler. The box was originally $30 but I got it on sale for $19. I mainly swooped this up because I have wanted to try three of the six products, loved one of the six already and would definitely use it, and was mildly interested in the two remaining products.
Here is the set breakdown:

The total value of the set was $95.00 and I purchased it for $19.00! That is 80% of the value of the box. These kits are really awesome if you want to try new brands but dont know what to pick and/or dont have the money for individual items!
I had never tried butter London nail polish, anything from the Laura Gellar line and I only have a foundation and foundation buffing brush from Tarte so the mascara was definitely nice to try out. The lipgloss is really pretty and smells REALLY sweet, which actually can get a tad obnoxious. You already know I love me some Lorac Behind the Scenes eye shadow primer! Id never tried anything from Pür Minerals and I havent used the bronzer yet. Bronzer kind of scares me because I have a small face, so its a fine like between looking like Im glowing and looking like I have dirt on my face. The Napoleon Perdis eye dust is a really pretty rose gold color and Ive already worn it quite a few times! Its can be sheered out so I even used a little to highlight my cheekbones!

I picked up these NYX singles at Ulta because they were on clearance and Ive never tried their eyeshadows before. Each of these were $2.49. I had to figure out how to photograph them so the colors showed up. I have a new found respect for photographers, people!

I have hooded eyelids so I needed some smaller brushes for my lid, plus I wanted to get a soft blending brush. I have the ELF blending brush but it is stiffer and it hurts after a while of blending. I went with this little set from Eco Tools and I love it! Its perfect. This set is $11.49 and I really want the Fresh & Flawless set which is $14.99. Maybe next month!
I had two coupons from CVS, one $10 off any beauty purchase of more than $10 and one $4 off a purchase of $12. I used both to pick up these two items plus a lip liner from NYX (not pictured.)
($12.94 - $10 coupon = $2.94)
($9 + 4 NYX liner = $13 - 4 coupon = $9.)
I had been meaning to get these three products so I was stoked to be able to try all three for $12. Score! You might be wondering why I got such a dark color of concealer from LOreal - its for contouring. I saw the tip on a video with Eleventh Gorgeous and Check in the Mirror. What a great idea! Its so easy to do a little contouring on your cheeks and nose with this baby. If you decide to try it out this concealer doesnt lie - it is SUPER blendable, which means you need a lot less than you think. Also, blend up on your cheeks instead of down.
I had heard that the Sonia Kashuk brush sets were on clearance (Target has SO MUCH clearance make up right now) but they were sold out. I ended up going again and they had a ton of these sets! I was so excited. I love the golden clutch and the green handles. Thus far, Ive only ever had ELF brushes which are good, but they are bottom of the barrel good. Its nice to have brushes that are a bit...softer. Ya know?
While at Target, I picked up this eyebrow gel and its been working well for me, although the brush is HUGE and when you put it back into the tube, product pushes out of the seam between the cap and the tube. Annoying! I picked up the Physicians Formula green concealer at CVS when it was 50% off, I also got a lipgloss (not pictured) that changes its color to suit your PH levels. Isnt that crazy? This was in a different mini haul, but I wanted to include it just to say that I seriously love it. A little goes a LONG way and it really cancels out red!
I know Ive been a little make-up heavy lately, but thats just a coincidence. Everything is on clearance right now so I like to take advantage of the sales. Im going to [try really hard to] cool it on the shopping for a while so youll see less hauls.

Beauty Haul March 2014 at CVS Using Coupons Rewards
You all know that I coupon a bit, right? Well last week, there were a ton of coupons and great deals at CVS, so I picked up a few things! I figured I would share some thoughts on couponing, rewards in general and trying new products.
I dont believe in using coupons for the sake of a deal. I coupon to save money on items I already plan to spend money on, thus, actually saving money!
If you decide to start couponing, the most important thing to remember is that you dont buy something just because you have a coupon for it. There are a few times to break these rules, like when you are interested in trying out something new, or if you dont buy brand specific items. Or, maybe there is a fantastic deal on a pack of toothbrushes, where you end up paying $1.00. That is a great item to pick up to make care packages or donate to a local shelter!
I am very picky about the brands I use and I am the type of shopper that once I find out what I like and what works, I buy it for the rest of my life. For example, toilet paper. Did you know you can be allergic to toilet paper? I didnt either, until I went through puberty and learned that I am ridiculously allergic to Quilted Northern toilet paper. Im also allergic to Dove soap. Olay products make my skin burn.
Needless to say, when I try a new product, I expect a disaster and I try not to pay one penny more than I have too. Also, when I try something new and I dont break out in hives, small red bumps, feel like my skin is on fire or have a weird tingling feeling? Im stoked.
Even beauty products, I have to be careful with. My eyes are seriously sensitive and I cannot tell you how many times mascara has gotten into my eye and all of a sudden my eye ball is beet red, watery, itchy and swollen.
Case in point, the new Bombshell lash mascara. Im allergic to it. You want to know how I found out?
Sometimes, when I go to sleep at night, Ill wash my face but not my eyes. Yeah I know, blah blah blah. Im tired yo! Well, one night I fell asleep and when I woke up, my eyes were crusted shut and swollen. I was freaking out. I cleaned it all with warm water and opened my eyes to red, super gunky eyes. No bueno. The day before that I had worn fake eyelashes (that I had taken off) and Bombshell mascara. I figured out later it was the mascara and not the eyelash glue. It was awful, yall.
However, my overwhelming fear of having a bad reaction to a make-up product is vastly lower than my desire to try out every single beauty product I can get my hands on. I love trying new things and sure, its a risk but to me, its worth it.
Except the toilet paper thing. I only buy the purple Cottonelle and that is ALL I will buy. Cause that just aint a body part you gamble with. You get what Im sayin?
Back to my point, I like coupons. I do not buy anything just because of a coupon. I get excited when something I actually buy has a coupon. I also get excited when something I already want to try has a coupon.
Which brings me to CVS and my coupon experience this last week. Ive been wanting to try a few new things, specifically foundations. Typically, I dont like buying my foundations at the drugstore when Target sells them because Target is always $3-4 less than CVS and Rite-Aid, but Target has been out of my shade. I didnt really have a choice, but I was going to make sure I got enough bang for my buck. Armed with coupons, I hit up the CVS right by my house and purchased the following:
First Transaction:
I had a Almay $5 off two products manufacturer coupon, plus CVS was running $6 extrabucks for two Almay eye products. I picked up the Intense i-color Volumizing Mascara in Mocha and the Intense i-color Shadow Stick for brown eyes.
Cost Breakdown: $5.99 + 5.99 - $5.00 (man. coupon) = $6.98 (+6.00 extrabucks)
I had a Maybelline CVS $2 off $10 plus, I got $3 back in extracare bucks on any eyes, lips or nail products, so I picked up the Color Tattoo in Tough as Taupe and Color Show nail polish in Pretty in Peach.
Cost Breakdown: $6.99 + 4.39 - $2.00 (cvs coupon) = $9.38 (+$3.00 extrabucks)
I had a $1.00 Wet n Wild product manufacturer coupon, which I used on the Megalast Lipstick in 907 Mauve.
Cost Breakdown: $1.99 - $1 (man. coupon) = $.99.
Original Total: $27.26
Paid: $19.25
Saved: $8.01
Second Transaction:
I had a $2.00 off Revlon purchase of over $12.00, plus CVS was running a Buy One, Get one 50%, plus I had a $6.00 coupon from the previous transaction. I grabbed the Revlon ColorStay foundation for Combination skin in Sand Beige and a Revlon duel-ended Eyeliner and Highlighter in Emerald.
Cost Breakdown: $13.49 + $9.79 - $4.90 (sale) - $6.00 (extrabucks) - $2.00 (man. coupon) = $10.38
Original Total: $19.76
Paid: $11.76
Saved: $8.00
Third Transaction:
I had a $3.00 off any two Covergirl eyes, lip or nail manufacturer coupon so I picked up two lipsticks, in Honeyed and Delicious.
Cost Breakdown: $8.29 + $8.29 - $3.00 (man. coupon) - 3.00 (extrabucks) = $10.58
Original Total: $17.83
Paid: $11.82
Saved: $6.01
Total Cost Summary:
Original Total: $64.85
Paid: $42.83
Saved: $22.02
Remember, these were all things I wanted but werent a necessity. Well, other than the foundation. I did need that. The other things I figured I would wait until I have coupons or saw sales on the things Id like to have because I want to save as much as possible. With the coupons, sales and extrabucks, I was able to save a little over 30% of the total cost!

A month or so ago, I placed an order on Hautelook when The Balm Cosmetics had a sale. I had wanted to try out a few of their products and I was almost out of face wash and make up remover so I justified trying out some new products.
I took all these pictures REALLY LATE AT NIGHT which is why I look like crap.
Obviously, I made Bryan take these ones. And when I went to upload them, look at what I find:
Google Auto #Hoffsome-d my pictures. Imagine my surprise when I see these. At first I thought Bryan did it and I was like Im gonna punch him. But no. It was Google. Totally cracked me up.
Here are pictures of the items I purchased and a quick description:

TimeBalm White Tea Rose Face Cleanser - Ive used this cleanser a few times now and while Im definitely not in love with it by any means, I like it. Its really light and doesnt really foam at all. I used it last night with my Ulta brand face cleansing brush and in my opinion, feel like I got way more out of it that way. It has a nice rose smell that is not obnoxious.
TimeBalm White Tea Carrot Eye Makeup Remover - I actually thought I would really like this, since I used and loved the Yes! To Carrots eye makeup remover for years, but this formula is not a cream, its more of a liquid, but not necessarily an oil. It is actually kind of....stings. On the skin, it kind of tingles. Its not bad, but it verges on bad. It works really well on removing eye make up though. I dont know. I need to use it more to get a feel for it.
Nudetude Eyeshadow Palette - So far, I am in love with this eye shadow palette. Seriously. Ive been using it non-stop, and used it every day I was gone on the conference. That sparkly pink color, Stand-offish, is gorgeous. I pack a little of the Sleek, a matte color on the outer part of my eyelid, then blend Selfish in the V-shape of my eye. I use Sassy as a highlight underneath the brow and in the inner part of my eye. Seriously pretty. With a good base, these eye shadows last all day long with no problem. And I have oily eyelids so that is saying something.
Bahama Mama Bronzer - I wanted this to do a little bit of contouring but I havent used it yet. I havent had a day to get ready where if I screw up I cant easily wash my face and start over. Im excited to use it though because I have been dipping my toe into contouring and I hear its a good one.
Hot Mama Blush - I love this blush! It is so pretty, so natural. It has a pretty sparkle to it. I like it.
I actually received the last portion of my order on Tuesday. I got the TimeBalm Vanilla Oil-Absorbing Face Moisturizer. I havent used it yet so I dont know how it performs, but Im excited to give it a shot!

August Ulta Haul!
Ive been wanting to pick up the new Urban Decay Naked Smoky palette and have been saving an Ulta gift card for months until its release! The purchase got put on the back-burner with some other things we had going on, so about two weeks ago I finally pulled the trigger and my pretties arrived!
Ulta.com had two great promotions going on so I decided to take advantage of it! With any $25 online purchase, you got a 9-piece beauty bag and with any $19.50 Ulta Cosmetics purchase, you got a 15-piece gift featuring Ulta Cosmetics.
I have used some store-brand cosmetics from Ulta before and they are admittedly hit or miss. But I have just watched Tati (from Youtube) talk about how she loved the Ulta Shiny Sheer lipglosses, so I picked up two. I decided to choose a pink glitter top coat (it reads champagne in the pictures but its on the pink side for sure). So this was my haul and it totaled with gift card and discounts $57.78. Pretty good when you consider that the Naked Smoky palette itself is $54!
I love the range of colors in the palette and Im excited to get to know it. Ill have a review on my Lauriana Cosmetics blog soon! (Yes, Lauriana Cosmetics is still in full effect and will have regular blog posts coming soon! Stay tuned!)
I chose the Amethyst beauty bag and seriously, the only thing this bag is missing is foundation! Youd be able to do a full face with it and then some! I received four small eyeshadow palettes and one blush/highlighter duo. These are really great to keep as stocking stuffers, beef up birthday/Christmas gifts or makeup nights with your nieces!
The 15-piece bag also included Mineral Lip Gloss, a full size lipstick and a mini-size nail polish in berry colors - perfect for fall! There was also a full size mascara, brow tint, a dual ended eyeliner with black and brown and three travel size makeup brushes! The blush brush and the eyeshadow brush were so soft! Im excited to give them a try.
.The 9-piece beauty bag came with four small samples of Urban Decay lipstick (that Shepherd tore apart - sorry!) I only have the little pans to show you. A sample of Jergens Natural Glow gradual tan lotion, Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector in Opal (Im so excited for this sample!), a perfume sample by Michael Kors and a serum from Philosophy called no reason to hide.
Also included was the cutest bottle EVER of Dolce & Gabbana perfume (look at that flower cap! Adorable), Brazilian Bomb Shell lotion, Mario Badescu Hyluronic Eye Cream, and Ahava Purifying Mud Mask which Im really excited to try! This baby Im growing is definitely jacking with my skin so Ive been really into masks right now!
And like I mentioned, the Urban Decay lipstick samples. I received their lip gloss samples (I think) in an Ipsy bag and I didnt like them. Hoping I like these better! The samples were Matte Stark Naked, Sheer Liar, Bang and Venom. If youve never gotten samples like this before, a lip brush is your best friend. You can also use a bobby pin to close the sample so it doesnt dry out before you use it again!
All in all, I definitely think it was a good deal. Ive already started Christmas shopping (I know Im crazy) so some of these will be added with those gifts and some Ill try out for my beauty blog. Have you tried or bought any of these products? What do you think of them?

At first, I was definitely wary about stamping in my planner. It seems extremely time consuming (from the little Ive already done). I like "decorating" and planning in my planner to be relaxing... Not stressful. Stamps stress me out. There is all the different inks, not to mention the shadowing and bleeding that can occur! However, Mommy Lhey had a sale a while back and I picked up a few of her sets. I knew for sure that I wanted the Walk By Faith set (shown in the middle). The others were just too cute to pass up.
The quality of the stamps is great. Ive used a few of the stamps in some layouts. I used the Jesus and Cross from Walk by Faith and the Rabbit stamp (shown on the left, see the ears?) for my Easter layout. You can see them in a line under the Sweet Stamp Shop Weekend banner stamp on the right.
I havent quite got the hang of stamping but its been kind of fun to try out. Apparently lots of people stamp and then just use color pencils or fancy markers to color it in... like a coloring book! How fun would it be to stamp it all up and then let Shepherd color in the spreads? It would be a disaster in the end but an amazing memory to look back on.
