Cinema meal and park
Cinema meal and park
Im doing my first "half term" duty by taking some leave this week, starting today as Louise doesnt work Mondays and Tuesdays. With Daniel in nursery, I was able to take Matthew out for the day and anticipating bad weather we went to the cinema to see the animated film Mr Peabody & Sherman. The story was quite far fetched but the film was well made and amusing in places, although Im not sure how much of the humour Matthew appreciated given the time travel theme and his limited knowledge of world history (the appearance of Leonardo Da Vinci, for example, who Matthew commented afterwards as having the same name as one of the Turtles).
We went for food in Harvester, and was surprised that Matthew left both his mashed potato and peas with his sausages - hes obviously becoming more picky. In the last few months he has stopped eating peas and sweetcorn, but he still usually eats mash, and so he ended up stealing some of my chips. Fortunately the free salad bar contained pasta, which Matthew enjoyed, so he didnt go away hungry.
Surprisingly the weather wasnt too bad at all, so we went to the park afterwards where Matthew had great fun playing with a younger boy who introduced himself - they ended up roping me and the boys dad into playing games of football and hide-and-seek. Matthew and I continued both games after coming home, making the most in a very unusual break in the current dire weather which has plagued us since before Christmas! Matthew has gained confidence at football through the football club he continues to attend on Monday evenings. His school friend Isaac has left, but Matthew has surprised us by continuing to go on his own and enjoy participating.
