More numbers
More numbers
Matthew got frustrated trying to write out numbers again tonight, even though we told him that he didnt have to and that he could play or watch TV instead. Louise thinks he has been doing it because his friends Isaac and Ethan, who both went up to year 1 in school this term, now have homework and have to write things out.
Despite getting frustrated over his 5s, which he isnt happy with (even though Ive told him they are fine), Matthew successfully wrote out his numbers from 1 - 11 this evening. He still wanted to write his "7" the wrong way round until I explained how to do it correctly, but otherwise he did all of them on his own. I was also impressed with the size of the numbers, which are very even in height.
Louise isnt sure whether Isaac and Ethan can even write out their numbers this well despite being older.
Matthew is doing well with his reading and is now on book 13 in the Level 1 set, although he has missed a couple which the school havent given him. Every Friday he is asked to read the book he has taken home for the week, and receives a new book if he reads it correctly. As he has been receiving a new book every week for a while in Welsh, I tried him with an English story book this evening and he did quite well having never read it before. He got confused with the word "is", but recognised quite a few words without any prompting.
