A Million and One Catch Up Moments for Lily
A Million and One Catch Up Moments for Lily
Im behind, behind, behind. Gasp!
Couple of big things have happened with Lily in the last month.
First, we registered Lily for Kindergarten! That was stressful! Not the actual registration part, but the figuring out all the rest part. Like before school care. After school care. Should we enroll her in the school thats meant for our neighborhood or the school thats actually a tad closer and ranked higher? But if we do that, what kind of options will we have for before/after school care... A million and one questions to figure out. But we did get it figured out. Whew.
Second, Lilys teacher recently rearranged their class room and Lilys desk was moved further away from the whiteboard. When that happened Lilys teacher noticed that she was squinting when trying to read words on the board. When she asked Lily to read a word (it was color words which Lily knows how to read), Lily said she couldnt. So, off to the eye doctor we went.
Lily did great while there. Did everything that was asked of her. Didnt shy away in to herself. She even handled it great when I left the room for my own appointment. The only thing that gave her any pause at all was when the doctor put the drops in her eyes to dilate them. She didnt much care for that.
The doctor said that her vision is slightly impaired but mostly whats causing the squinting is an astigmatism. She got a prescription for glasses which the doctor said she didnt have to wear all the time if she didnt want to. She suggested that we just have Lily leave them at school so she always had them when she needed them to see the whiteboard. So thats what weve been doing. But Lily really likes to wear them. (Shes very proud of her pink case.)

Third, we signed Lily up for soccer! Shes had two practices and one game so far. She seems to like it ok though I am already worried about her willingly sticking it out the whole six game season.
During her first game, she really started to lose interest about half way through. They play four 10-minute quarters and that just seems too long. Almost all of the kids were over it before all was said and done. I have no idea what the score was of her first game, but Lilys team, The Snappers, definitely did not win. I cant believe I didnt get a picture of Lily before the game. She looked sooooo stinkin cute.
Lily had two assists! She should have had two goals, but she has trouble with following the ball after she kicks it. Both times, she launched the ball at the goal and both times it rolled to a stop practically on the goal line and she just watched it happen. Both times, one of her teammates ran up and kicked it in. She played the "goalie" position for one quarter. She did ok, but she struggled to pay attention the whole time.
After the last practice, prior to her first game, Joel noticed Lily might be losing interest a little, so he promised her if she worked hard at her first game, he would take her for ice cream afterwards. Bribery at its finest! (Also, Tyler is SUCH A STINKER.)
And lastly, I did this interview with Lily around her birthday, but I just never got around to posting it. I thought it would be fun to try to do these same questions every year. I imagine I may add questions over time, but for now these seemed age appropriate.

Catch Up
Catch Up
Joel does such a good job of taking pictures to send to me when I am out of town. I got these a couple weeks ago when I was in Detroit (on the worst work related car ride EVER with a totally strange individual.....long 5 hour ride to Detroit and back, let me tell you....).
Hes also so so so good about taking them to the park and/or playground when Im gone. I think he does this to distract them a little from the fact that Im gone. Whatever the reason, hes awesome for doing it.

The kiddos stayed with Grams a couple weeks back and while they were away, the kids at daycare planted grass in cups. Lily was so sad that she didnt have a cup at school growing grass that Joel set them up with a cup at home and helped them plant grass seed. The grass in their cups is growing like crazy. (Wish I could say the same for the grass seed Joel planted in our yard...)
Movie day! We saw "Home" - it was meh. You can see from Tylers eyes that he was a bit sleepy before we even got started.
We celebrated Aydens and Kenzies birthdays the other weekend ago. The weather forecast was predicted 80% chance of rain, but the weather gods were smiling on us and it didnt rain a drop. The kids were able to play outside to their hearts content.
They mostly went nuts for these power wheels. Im usually content and happy with the size of our yard, but we could never really make good use of a power wheels in our yard. But it would be fun to have one. Who am I kidding? Wed need two.
I have no idea why Lily is trying to tow Tyler backwards.
Ayden has a little dirt bike. Which Joel felt the need to ride down the road. He doesnt look at all ridiculous on this thing.
Tyler on the other hand - looks totally cute.
And if that birthday party fun isnt enough, we had another birthday party full of fun including a ginormous jumpy house slide thing.
And a piñata. Which all the kiddos beat senseless. My kiddos got completely trampled and blocked when the candy finally came out. I think they each grabbed 2 or 3 pieces of candy. My mommy heart felt so sorry for them. Then my mommy brain was super happy they didnt come home with a 100 pieces of candy as we still have a sizable amount of Easter candy left.
There was a little doggie there, so you can guess that Tyler was trying to pet it every chance he got (you know, in between the jumpy house, piñata and ice cream).
