Two parties

Two parties

Matthew attended two birthday celebrations in one day today.  This morning he went to a play centre with his friend Isaac and other guests to celebrate Lilys birthday, a girl from his school.  The party was very early, at 9am, and included a breakfast buffet where Matthew had beans, sausage and scrambled egg.  He came home with a balloon and the usual party bag.  After lunch, his friend Ethans dad came to pick him and took Matthew, Ethan and Isaac to Funsters and McDonalds to celebrate Ethans birthday.  They also went to the park before coming home, so Matthews had an action packed day (and we havent seen much of him).

Matthews handwriting is certainly improving.  He can now write his name tidily inside birthday cards - a year or so ago, his letters were so big he struggled to fit his name on a single line.  He also continues to do well in his spelling tests every week, and got 5 out of 5 last week.  His reading is coming along well, and he can recognise the names of most of the TV programmes he watches, so knows what is on when using the TV guide.

As Daniel now has strong opinions on what to watch on TV, theres often competition to choose a channel and so Matthew gets to watch less of his favourite programmes.  Recently, Matthew has enjoyed watching the new animated series of Thunderbirds and he still enjoys watching Power Rangers, but he seems to watch more CBBC and CITV now (he used to watch Kix and before that CBeebies and Tiny Pop).  Daniel enjoys CBeebies and Milkshake, which Matthew used to watch but now finds some of the programmes a bit babyish.  On CITV he seems to enjoy Horrid Henry and Gruesome Tales for Grizzly Kids (or maybe they just always seem to be on when I come in).
