Christmas excitement

Christmas excitement

Matthew shows off one of his presents
Well, after 5 years it has finally started - the early rising on Christmas Day, that is.  Matthew was very excited this year, and has been counting down the days with two advent calendars so he knew exactly when the big day would arrive.

We may have been a bit fortunate because he had become so excited that he didnt sleep well the night before Christmas Eve, which meant that we had no problems getting him to go to bed on Christmas Eve, and he didnt wake in the middle of the night.  At 6.21am, though, we were woken when Matthew came into our bedroom (for the first time ever at night, incidentally) to tell us that Santa had been and filled the stocking hanging on his door!  Louise told him to go back to his room until 7am, which is the time hes allowed to get up, which he did.  He had been allowed to open Ethans present the night before, a Superman toy, and I suggested he played with it if he woke early on Christmas Day, so at least he had something to keep him busy.

At 7am, Louise got up and Matthew came downstairs to have breakfast.  He was very keen to open his gifts and didnt like having to wait for Daniel and me to come down, but was allowed to open his presents from Santa straight after breakfast which kept him happy for a while.  Unfortunately he wasnt keen on waiting for long to open more presents, and our attempts to try and get Daniel to open some while Matthew waited, proved to frustrate Matthew and aggravate his temper.  In the end, Matthew opened most of his gifts first.

Santa has been kind to Matthew and brought him the gold Power Ranger (which is rare and now discontinued, although I did spot one on Ebay which Santa may have purchased).  He also received the Playmobil Treasure Island and Pirate Ship, which weve had fun putting together over the last couple of days and Matthew seems to really enjoy, a toy castle complete with knights and dragon, some books, and some DVDs of Scooby Doo, Ben 10 and Toy Story.  We also found him a glow in the dark moon for his room and solar system mobile, which I thought would appeal to his recent obsession with spotting the moon from his window.
