Bowling

Bowling

Ready to go
Matthew went ten-pin bowling this morning for the first time, a suggestion I was given for a wet weather activity from a colleague in work.  It proved to be a good idea as he had a great time.  I hadnt thought about taking him before, as I thought hed be too young, and was having second thoughts when I told him this morning and he said a boy in his school ended up with his arm in a bandage from a bowling ball!

The bowling centre had put up the side rails for Matthew, and also provided a ramp for him to push the balls down, which worked very well.  I was surprised to see two children who were both even younger than Matthew bowling on the lane next to us and having a good time, which reassured me that I wasnt making a mistake.  We played two games, and I won both - I was trying to let Matthew win but it proved very difficult with the side-rails as I couldnt bowl into the side without the ball from bouncing back!  He nearly bowled a strike several times but always ended up at least with one pin remaining, although he did knock down the full ten on his second bowl a couple of times which he was very pleased about.

Afterwards Matthew had a go in the small play area, and then we played pool (Matthews first time - he found it hard to hold the cue), and air hockey.  It was also Matthews first time at air hockey and he was surprisingly good.  He won both games easily, even when I discovered he was good and started playing to win.  The first game he won 5 - 3 and the second 7 - 4.

Once again, the weather proved to be fine this morning when Id planned a wet weather activity, but we were able to play some football in the garden so it wasnt a completely indoor day!

Matthew has gone to stay with his Grandma and Grandad for a sleepover tonight - another adventure for him on his half term break!

Not bad for a first attempt!
