Parents evening wedding
Parents evening wedding
I attended my second parents evening tonight with Louise, and found out a little bit about what Matthew is doing in school at the moment. Hes the only one in his class who has started reading books, and while that is a great achievement it is also partly to be expected as he is the eldest. His teacher is impressed with his progress and said hes always happy in class and never moans, and even though he was too shy to participate in Circle Time when he first started last year he now enjoys participating and telling the others about his favourite things (apparently he told them that the person he loves most is Daniel!).
Hes doing well with his Welsh and his teacher claims that hell understand everything she says and will reply individually to her in Welsh, but when she observes the children talking in class he is usually talking in English. He is also doing well with basic maths, and will this year be doing some basic addition and subtraction using written sums as well as practical examples using objects.
A mock wedding was held at school today, and the children were all driven to the village church where a ceremony was held, with children taking the parts of the bride and groom, father of the bride, ushers, bridesmaids and so on. Matthew had to dress up smart and was a guest, so didnt have to perform - a few of his friends did take part though. Louise went along to see the wedding - fortunately the heavy rain this morning had stopped but it was very windy. Matthew enjoyed dressing up smart and thought he looked cool in a tie, which hes never worn before.
At the end of last week, Matthew came home from school with a "good work" certificate, which he told me was for the numbers hed written out and taken in to his teacher.
