Unexpected new tooth!

Unexpected new tooth!

Matthew went for a check-up with the dentist today, who discovered that he has a new tooth come through at the back (his bottom left)!  Id forgotten that babies only have 20 teeth rather than the 28 permanent teeth that adults have (excluding wisdom teeth).  Matthew wasnt aware he had a new tooth, and nor were we!

The dentist was surprised that none of his other baby teeth had fallen out, as he had expected them to since his last visit.  His teeth were all fine, and the dentist noticed the remaining baby teeth are all quite wobbly, so he could start losing them soon.  He currently still has a full set of teeth, although the two bottom front teeth are his adult teeth.  The dentist also spotted that another new back permanent molar is ready to come through at the top, which could cause some discomfort and not to worry if Matthew starts chewing!

Matthew has now started level 3 books at school.  He complained this evening that his friend Isaac is ahead of him, and reading "small letters", so I pointed out that Isaac is 6 and in the year above Matthew, and that small letters are just smaller versions of big letters.  To try and prove it, I showed Matthew one of my books and he was able to read a few words.
