School report
School report
Matthew came home with his school report today from his first year - he now only has two days left in school before the long summer break. His report was positive and so hes earned himself a star for his chart (hes currently saving up for a die-cast Chick Hicks, from Cars).
Highlights from Matthews report include that he is confident of his letter sounds, is able to listen to instructions in Welsh and carry them out, follow stories that are read to him and respond accordingly, make relevant observations, sort objects into groups and use iPads. He can also do simple addition and subtraction using counters (I know this as he does it with his bath toys), concentrate for short periods, use a range of equipment with control, and (surprisingly) take turns and share when playing games in a group. He is described as a "very caring, happy little boy" - excellent stuff.
Most of the things Matthew needs to work on are related to his confidence, as hes quite shy in public - he is rather reluctant to participate in mental maths sessions, needs to be encouraged to speak Welsh sometimes, and needs to be encouraged to ask more questions. Despite this, it is noted that Matthew has "settled well into school life and has made plenty of friends".
Matthew can now read his weight on the bathroom scales, and after being 3 stone 2lbs for quite a while has become very excited this week to find he now weighs 3 stone 3lbs! He weighs himself every day - sometimes more than once!
