Solar eclipse
We were treated to a cloudless sky for this mornings partial solar eclipse, the first here since Matthew was born. When taking Matthew to school, I asked him if he would be watching the eclipse at school.
Matthew: Whats a clips?
Me: An eclipse. Its when the moon travels in front of the sun and blocks out the light.
Matthew: Yeah right, thatll never happen.
This evening, I found out that Matthew had watched the eclipse on television at school. Its a shame health and safety concerns have spoiled the childrens chance to actually witness a rare natural spectacle. One of my colleagues children was able to watch it at their school and they made their own eclipse viewers out of card.
