Lilys Hosts a Playdate Party

Lilys Hosts a Playdate Party

Lily has been begging me for probably going on 9 months now to have her friends over.  I have just never made it happen.  Then around Christmas time, it went from just having friends over to having friends spend the night.  Since her requests were escalating from simply friends visiting to friends sleeping over, I thought best to at least give her first request a shot.

Im not sure what possessed me to ask three of her friends over.  I was playing the odds that surely not all of them would be able to make it since the invitation was kind of last minute.  But they were all available and super excited about it.  None of them had ever had a play date before so the whole concept was new to all 4 of them.

So one afternoon, a few Sundays ago, those girls (plus Tyler) ran all over this house.  Loud and H-Y-P-E-R.  Running from one thing to the next to the next to the next.

I learned that all kids are pretty much created equal in the eating department - as in they all want to have a snack every 5 minutes.  Glad to know its not just my kids.

They were singing, coloring, playing outside, climbing on Tylers bunk bed and just generally running amuck for 2 hours.  And then asking when they could do it again.

ETC Vlog New Year Party!

ETC Vlog New Year Party!

We did it! We successfully vlogged our New Years Eve celebration! My plan for 2015 is to incorporate more video onto the blog - not just for the blog itself, but for my own memories. It is a huge step for us.

My writing is always honest and mostly, extremely candid. I can write while experiencing a multitude of emotions and while you may feel it in the words I use, you cant see it. It is extremely personal to put emotion, to put a body that you arent happy with or proud of, or a dirty house on video for all to see. I cant help but feel exposed.

But, this is our life. This body is my body and my house is my house. Im walking it, living it and just as I want to write about it, I want to capture it. This is Shepherds childhood and while we snap photos on our phones all the time, I rarely capture video. My new goal for 2015 is to capture more real life on video - and to share it on my blog.

I hope that you enjoy it. This is new, but Im hoping you will trust me and know that I wouldnt make such a decision lightly. Im going to be as real and as vulnerable on camera as I am in my writing.

But hopefully I dont ugly cry.

:)

So, without further ado - this is how we rang in the new year!

Party Stitches Giveaway!

Party Stitches Giveaway!

Who loves ETSY? ME! Who loves cute personalized shirts for there kiddos? ME! Who loves an awesome ETSY shop? ME!!
As I was on the hunt for Hudsons circus themed birthday shirt for his 1st birthday I came across Party Stitches and I am so glad that I did! Party Stitches offers so many cute items from party hats, shirts, leg warmers, and bloomers! The owner of the ETSY shop Lauren was such a joy to work with! She customized everything to match the party! She does awesome work and her items are of best quality!

Look at the adorable party hat! It was absolutely adorable!

Party Stitches was born out of a need and desire to create personalized appliqued and embroidered items for my own children. The love of creating personalized and adorable clothing for my own kids grew to making them for my friends children as well. Soon, I discovered that this passion of mine could be made into a business that would keep my creative juices flowing and help with everyday household expenses. I have loved being able to stay home with my family and keep my "mommy brain" in check.

Based out of our home, Party Stitches has grown tremendously over the last two years. I feel truly blessed each day (and night) when I walk into my office to create these special items for my customers. Most of my work is done during naps and after the sun has gone down. I love what I do and cannot wait to see what is around the next bend!

I find inspiration everywhere and never stop dreaming of what I can make next. Exciting things are happening everyday with Party Stitches! Thank you for taking the time to drop by and I hope that you find that special item youre looking for. Feel free to contact me any time, as Im probably awake!

Birthday party

Birthday party

Matthew had his birthday party this morning at Krazy Kids play centre, the first time hes had a birthday party somewhere other than at home.  Louise sent out the invitations before the children broke up for school and was concerned that nobody would reply, as she hadnt heard anything during the school holidays.  She neednt have worried, because as soon as Matthew went back to school people started to confirm their attendance, and by the end of the week we had 18 replies!  As it turned out, another child turned up that we werent expecting so we had 19 in total, including Matthew.

Everyone seemed to have fun and most of the children were well behaved - weve been to a few of these parties so knew what to expect, and it was well organised by the staff who laid on a buffet lunch and lit the candles on the Planes cake we had provided.  Apart from the food, the party just consisted of free play, which suited Matthew as there are plenty of activities at the centre.  I think Matthew was a bit shy when everyone sang "Happy Birthday", and I had to help him blow out the 5 candles (as did one of the other boys there).  He really enjoyed the party and had fun playing on the bouncy castle - it was nice to see him enjoy it since he used to be so reluctant to go on one.

The advantage to having so many attend is that Matthew had loads of presents to take home, which he enjoyed opening.  People were very generous and Matthew had some great gifts, with many having a Spiderman theme.
