Life skills
Life skills
Starting last week, Louise has been going to school on Tuesday lunchtimes to join Matthew for a Life Skills class. The class is run by an external teacher who goes round schools in the area teaching Life Skills, and is only available to children with a parent who can attend. This week, Louise and Matthew learned how to make sandwiches, wraps, paninis and pitta breads. Matthew made a ham, cheese and tomato sauce sandwich (the same as his friend Jimi) and cut it into dinosaur shapes.
They also had to bring a "treasure box" to the class, which Louise and Matthew put together yesterday in a shoe box. Matthew chose to put in his model of King (from Cars), and Louise created a shaker from an old baby juice bottle, rice and glitter. They also put in a small teddy, a paperweight, a London 2012 snow globe, two seashells, and some foam bath letters.
Apparently the class is aimed at 0 - 3 year olds, so were not sure why they are teaching it in school. Some of the parents think it is a waste of time and wont be going again, but Louise is happy to keep going.
