18/4/14.  For our second day out over the Easter holiday, I took Matthew to Techniquest yesterday.  Having been there myself when I was young (although not for over 20 years), I wasnt sure if it would be aimed at children older than Matthew, but decided to take a gamble and am glad that we went.

Id promised Matthew I would take him somewhere that he could find out more about space, since he has developed an interest in the Moon.  Techniquest now has a planetarium, and we were treated to a 25 minute tour of the night sky aimed at under 7s.  There is also a show for older children, but we were recommended this one due to Matthews age.  Matthew was delighted to see the Moon, Mars and Jupiter although we didnt see any of the other planets.

We also went to a fun show about the human body, which explained how food is digested, and how snot can fight bacteria among other things.  Matthew enjoyed the ending, when a toilet was set on fire!

The rest of the day was spent looking at the exhibits, which Matthew thoroughly enjoyed as he could press lots of buttons and do other fun activities.  He particularly enjoyed touching the plasma ball, looking through a set of small mirrors which made his face split into hundreds of small Matthews, and the "head on a plate" optical illusion.
