Dentist

Dentist

Today Brody had his 6 month check up at Hamburg Pediatric Dentistry, which we love. It is a 2 hour drive for us but is worth it to go somewhere that Brody feels comfortable at and they are just awesome! He had his dental work done about 6 months ago and had several cavities and even a silver cap put on. I am glad to say that today Brody got to put his little blue star on the NO CAVITY WALL! Yay! After the dentist we let Brody picked where he wanted to eat and we met my sister Lindsey. He chose Fazolis  and then we took a special trip to Target!
He was such a big boy and did a great job!!!

Hardys developed separation anxiety

Hardys developed separation anxiety

Hardy attended his 5th AKC Puppy Star class today - next week will be the test and an opportunity to play "Show and Tell" with 3 tricks were supposed to work on this week.
He did very well with all the exercises - "leave it" with something on the floor (weve been practicing with our cats); eye contact; sit and down stays (Hardy shifted position but never got up from the stay); loose leash walking and playing around on the agility and flyball equipment. He walked through the ladder nicely with good control over his hind end; went through the short tunnel; got up on the table and sat and downed; and jumped up on the flyball box. He had a chance to play with Pete and had a great time!

Then, we practiced the separation part of the CGC test and discovered that right now Hardy isnt a big fan of being out-of-sight from us. A couple weeks ago, we worked on it and he couldnt have cared less but now, he is somewhat concerned and whinny about it. Apparently, we need to work on that some more right now!

Stop

Stop

My face is washed, Im sipping on tea, coffee and smoothie stations are set up for easy access tomorrow and my precious boy is screaming his head off.

shepherd selfie - take 1

"Momma!"

"Momma!"

"Dada!"

(Cries)

"Dada!"

We have officially entered the terrible twos. Hes refusing meals. He says, "No." and "I dont like it." all the time. Even to pancakes! He loves pancakes. Thats how I know we are in a stage. The boy loves him some pancakes. Hes not fooling anyone with his "I dont like it."s.

Last night we had class. Luckily it was a topic that I was somewhat familiar with, even though it can be somewhat confusing. As I was listening, I was organizing all my paperwork, punching holes and filing it in a binder. I separated everything by quarter and by topic. I plan to print out the assignments and put what grade I received on it so I can go back and figure out what I missed.

shepherd selfie - take 2

Shepherd is asleep now. Thankfully. I keep reminding myself that this is just a phase. Just a phase. Well get through it.

The problem is that I dont know how to parent through this. Im asking other mom friends and I dont know the best way to wade through these waters. The baby phase is fairly easy. Eat Sleep Poop. Boom. Then teething. Yikes. Now the defiance.

You know what else he says? "Stop!" Every time he says it, I wince. He got it from me. You know how kids often say No! No! because they go through a season where parents are always saying No! "No, dont touch that." "No, dont pull the cats tail." Everything is no.

Apparently, I say "stop." and now so does he. I replay it in my head and I hear myself saying it. Stop getting in the cupboards, stop throwing a fit. Stop Shepherd. Stop. Stop.

Ill work on that. Along with everything else.

I feel distant this week from everything. Do you ever have those moments? Where you are just on the peripheral? I feel distant from Bryan, from Shepherd, school, family, friends, work, school. Sometimes I just have these periods of time when I just feel... outside. There are so many things going on and I just feel aloof. I sure hope someone out there has felt the same at times.

Matching

Matching

I remember playing with my baby dolls and pretending I was a Momma when I was little (actually until 7th grade) and I always dreamed about the day I would be married and have my own children. One thing that always stood out and that I couldnt wait to do was dress my children alike. I remember seeing Moms do that and seeing all of the cute clothes and I couldnt wait until I could do that with my very own! I am sure the boys wont let me dress them alike for long so while they are little I am making sure I do so. I love to match them and coordinate them. They melt my heart!! Its just the little things in life like matching my boys outfits that make me happy :)

As you can see Brody is such a ham when it comes to taking pictures! He starts out cheesing and then his faces just get more silly!

Massachusetts Eye Doctor on Contact Lens iPhone App

Massachusetts Eye Doctor on Contact Lens iPhone App

Massachusetts Eye Doctor Dr. Michael Fu reviewed an iPhone app to help contact lens wearers. “This is potentially very helpful. There is a new iPhone and iPad app available that provides a convenient way to keep track of how many times you have worn your reusable contact lenses. No more having to wonder if its time to replace your contacts. This is a nice way to help keep your contact lenses safe and your eyes healthy,” commented Dr. Fu. “Proper lens replacement is critical to your eyes health when wearing contacts. The app is available at iTunes for contact lens wearers to have a look at.”

If you or someone you know wears contact lenses and would like more information about the iPhone and iPad app they are encouraged to contact D’Ambrosio Eye Care by calling us at 800-325-3937, visiting D’Ambrosio Eye Care or facebook.com.

Massachusetts Eye Surgeons on Glaucoma Cataracts

Massachusetts Eye Surgeons on Glaucoma Cataracts

Cataract patients with glaucoma have the option of a new treatment option at D’Ambrosio Eye Care. Massachusetts eye surgeon Francis D’Ambrosio, Jr., M.D. shared some thoughts about the iStent® Trabecular Micro-Bypass Stent as a treatment option to reduce eye pressure for cataract patients with glaucoma. “We started using iStent® to better help cataract patients with glaucoma. It’s really meaningful as we believe patients will need to use fewer eye drops for their glaucoma treatment and we are hopeful that they might not need to use prescription eye drops at all,” explained Dr. D’Ambrosio Jr.

The iStent® is FDA-approved for use in conjunction with cataract surgery to reduce eye pressure in adult patients with mild-to moderate open-angle glaucoma currently being treated with glaucoma medicine. In clinical trials, iStent® has been shown to safely reduce eye pressure, which is the primary cause of open-angle glaucoma.

“What we know-and frankly what concerns us, is that 90% of glaucoma patients do not follow the instructions for using their glaucoma eye drops and some 50% actually discontinue taking their medication after 6 months. This is a real problem as when the eye pressure is not well controlled it increases the risk of permanent irreversible vision loss,” further emphasized Dr. D’Ambrosio Jr. “That’s why I brought iStent® into our practice-it’s an important advancement in preserving eye health and vision.”

Massachusetts Glaucoma Specialist Bin Wu, M.D. of D’Ambrosio Eye Care added, “As an eye surgeon who is a glaucoma specialist and performs cataract surgery, what I am impressed with is the very tiny-microscopic-size of the iStent®. This allows me to implant it without adding too much time during cataract surgery and without my patients even being aware of it in the eye. In addition-if we can help patients use less eye drops or none at all, this lowers the cost of their ongoing glaucoma care which is very important.”

If you or someone you know suffers from cataracts or glaucoma and wishes to learn more or schedule an eye examination at D’Ambrosio Eye Care please call us at 800-325-3937, visit D’Ambrosio Eye Care or facebook.com/dambrosioeyecare
